My new short story, People Who Need To Die: "Black Friday Revenge," is now up on Amazon Kindle! I can't make it free right away. So if you can spare 99 cents (my profit is 35 cents), please get it and let me know what ya think. Thanks! Vic http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HROTLZ2

    Synopsis:
Greg Garrison’s son was trampled to death in a mall on Black Friday. The following year, Greg lures shoppers into a decked-out warehouse with promises of “deep discounts” and “final sales.” Once the metal doors shut, the Hunger Games of shopping commence. Will anyone survive?

I worked in retail during Black Friday as a manager, and it was awful! Please keep me updated on this book so I can read the heck out of it! icon_mad.gif

I have to say this, John:
The title and the tagline are fucking brilliant.

Victor, if you don't call it 100% Offed, you're nuts.

I love it, it sounds very camp but very funny. For the movie I'm picturing Tim Curry as Greg Garrison, and Kathy Griffin and Nathan Lane as two irritating shoppers who get slaughtered.

It means "in the black," meaning profitable, as opposed to "in the red."

icon_lol.gif i know right. people underestimate the power of words and how they affect us. "black friday" and "white christmas".

I think "White Christmas" is pretty harmless since it refers to snow
but, just the same, I think God/Mother Nature/Fate
set up for language conflicts by making white and black people.
IMO pink and orange people would have worked much better.

I thought black Friday had negative connotations also but, as Vic just explained, "black" here refers to money.

    Interesting list, Mike.
I also remember seeing a documentary on an African country (forget which) and white was the color of death there.

well, learned something new today. icon_sad.gif thanks, mike. guess it's about time for me to shut up.

Nah, didn't mean it like that. I just think it is interesting that colors have different meanings in other cultures.

Good move with the title. Black Friday Payback sounds more like someone making a contribution instead of retribution.
