At 11 i had an argument about almost everything my sunday school teacher said one day, at which point i told her that the next week i would bring in my encYclopedia and prove it. She said she was the adult and i was the child so i should just behave. I told her that yes she was the adult and i was the child but yet i was correct and she was wrong so she should resign and i would teach the class as she would be easily proven incompetent by a child, and that she should apologize immediately for lying because she had no idea of what facts actually are. She was furious.

The next week i brought in half of my encyclopedia set, bookmarked, to over a dozen falsehoods she pointed out as facts, to the point that she called my mom in, who basically said it would be easier if the teacher just apologized rather than suffer being tormented further, yet the teacher, called the minister, who stopped trying to defend her falsehoods, when i tore into him, asking for his resignation as well, on biblical points he couldnt defend, ( like being told to never again allowing prayer in church, let alone customized prayers, and allowing receipts for donations and various other things banned in matthew 6)

I disproved adam and eve, noah, and others similarly...

I no longer had to attend after disproving most of religion that day and demanding they be fired for blaspheme.

I was raised Christian but have since fallen in love with science and realized the idea of God is silly in comparison to what's actually out there.

Plus the answers we arrive at through science never seem to include a need for God as an ingredient.

I always thought I was the only gay atheist out there, and then I met lots of cool guys with pretty unique (and many similar) perspectives on life at gaywithoutgod (I reread that and swear I'm not promoting...I really met some lifelong friends there and learned some cool shit). Kinda like you guys, only godless icon_twisted.gif

    You're behind the times.
I watched a dozen programs this month on the SCIENCE Channel that examined the possibility of a creative intelligence.

And I watched a dozen programs this month on the HISTORY Channel that examined the possibility of ancient aliens.
    What's your point?

That's pretty poor reasoning for someone who claims to value science.

Really? It seemed like a pretty perfect analogy. Just because it's on the Science channel doesn't mean it's science in the same way that something on the history channel doesn't make it history.

I'm sorry the logic escaped you.

First, you're saying alien life can't exist when all of science disagrees with you.
Second, you only seem to like science when it backs up your own personal beliefs.
    An atheist saying
"the answers we arrive at through science never seem to include a need for God as an ingredient"
is the same as a religious fanatic saying
"the answers we arrive at through religion never seem to include a need for science as an ingredient."
They both express nothing but prejudice as neither science nor religion has all the answers.

Jaggal saidYou're putting words in his mouth, John.

Well you're going to have to explain it to me then.
I can't believe it matters what *channel* an argument appears on.
If scientists are interviewed who are explaining new ideas about how the universe might be an illusion in the mind of God (for example), then it's a part of science whether you agree with it or not.
My point is that loving science is not an excuse for mocking people who believe in God.

Saying "God is silly" is mocking to the many religious people in the group.
I'm not one of them but I think we should respect other people's beliefs.
Also, I think science is pretty far from explaining the universe without making God part of the equation.

Yep, never said that. Never even hinted at that.

Yes, indeed he is. That's when I know a conversation is over.
