should we really expect these companies to be all altruistic? in the end, they are all out to make a profit.

i'm much more concerned about their sponsorship of the 2014 winter olmpics in Russia.

The article doesn't mention if it will air in the U.S.

    I think it's telling that
    1) It would air unadjusted in (my home country) the Netherlands, the UK and Norway but not (yet?) be available to view (or planned?) in the US
    2) Ireland is still so very much in the clutches of the roman catholic church's strict doctrine(s)

On the other hand, just seeing that Coca Cola would promote this message ANYwhere (and I mean the entirety of the message, which makes the gay grooms segment all the stronger) is an amazing step in the world for us (gays). I don't criticize them for what they haven't done; I applaud them for what they have done. And I hope they do more, as it is appropriate for them and their shareholders, when they can.

Not in that form. the soccer reference makes it more euro. With editing they could. Would make a great SB ad.

I dont have an issue with them sponsoring the olympics. They are sponsoring the games, not the location. the games have a global reach.

Coca Cola is not fairing well with the gay community lately.

Coke will wh@re itself to the location. That's why it apparently will taste different based on where you're located. I don't really care, my family drank Pepsi growing up and I only drink water (since HS) -- with the occasional sugar free energy drink or meal shake.

This is a company that is being respectful to their host countries.

I don't agree with Irish politics, Coca Cola may not either, but they have to do business there.

Is anyone really going to boycott Coke because a pair of gay grooms appear in one of its ads? And would Pepsico be beyond said boycott?

I became disgusted with Coca cola when they had an advertisement that showed someone intentionally dropping his bicycle before going into an apartment building. No bike rider would intentionally drop his bike and risk damaging it.
