    anyone hear when video chat is gonna return here? it was great to really talk to a face!!

    Never. This site used a third party service for the chat room. I think it would take too much time/money/effort to create a replacement from scratch.

    Some of us have been using Google Hangout instead.

    The problem I have with Google applications is how they're constantly sending data from my computer to their servers. LittleSnitch was gong bonkers alerting me every few minutes, even when the applications weren't launched. I realize the stated purpose is to keep the aps updated but I prefer to have control over the frequency and, as I understand it, there's no way to override that feature.

    There's an option in Chrome to enable/disable extensions from running in the background after Chrome is closed. Also, not sure about Mac but in Windows, you can just manually disable the Google Updater service.
