Pre-workout Drink + Anxiety

    Hey Guys,

    Happy New Year. I wanted to post to the forum to see if any of you guys can't take any preworkout drink due to anxiety/panic attacks. I used to be able to take any preworkout drink and now when I do I get anxious and feel like I'm about to have a panic attack causing me to leave the gym early.

    I recently bought pump fuel which stated it was caffeine free. Well I guess I can't have any stimulates like tourine either because the same thing happened. It is a little disheartening because I know those pre-workout drinks really get you through the reps and help you build muscle.

    Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

    Are you not able to take any caffeine? I'm over the pre-workout drinks and stopped taking them. Waste of money. Coffee works for me, and it's more cost effective.

    You're probably taking too much. I remember first starting on that C4 and I put a spoonful and a half and had the exact same reaction. Start off with lower doses and eventually your body will become accustom to it.

    I stopped drinking coffee because of panic attacks. And those pre-workout drinks are even worse. It doesn't matter if it's caffeine or another stimulant, they will all make you anxious. I feel so much better being off all stimulants and now I can sleep the whole night through. They are unnatural.

    Thanks for the replies guys. I also have to be careful with Coffee as too much will make me anxious and large amounts will make me panicky. I'll just stick to protein as being a way to bulk more but always open to more suggestions if there are any. icon_smile.gif

    If you want to bulk increase/add carbs to your diet and lift heavier with less reps, protein helps build muscle and high protein diets are for cutting

    I suggest you cut out coffee and other caffeine altogether. Stick with a protein drink, maybe one with creatine, prior to lifting. Regular hard workouts and cardio can help with some forms of anxiety. But if this gets in the way of your activities, see a counselor, there are lots of good ways to manage this.

    I agree with others, stick with coffee. Pre-workout drinks make me paranoid of the crazy shit in them. I used to take Jack3d and I felt like I was rolling every time I took it. Sure enough, it was taken off the market because it was linked to heart problems.
