My bf picks on me about maintaining my eyebrows cuz they grow crazy sometimes!!! haha I was wondering what purpous does an eyebrow have???

heres what wiki says..thought it was interesting...

The main function of the eyebrow is to prevent moisture, mostly salty sweat and rain, from flowing into the eye, an organ critical to sight. The typical curved shape of the eyebrow (with a slant on the side) and the direction in which eyebrow hairs are pointed, make sure that moisture has a tendency to flow sideways around the eyes, along the side of the head and along the nose. The slightly protruding brow ridges of modern humans could also still play a supporting role in this process.[citation needed] Together with the brow ridges, the eyebrows also shade the eyes from sunlight.

Eyebrows also prevent debris such as dandruff and other small objects from falling into the eyes, as well as providing a more sensitive sense for detecting objects being near the eye, like small insects.

Eyebrows also have an important facilitative function in communication, strengthening expressions like surprise or anger.

I think the brow bone also plays a role in protecting our eye.

Maybe to funnel sweat off away from the eyes? I like a thick brow...not a wire brush..but a nice pair. I dont like them all tweezed and plucked, but I know many guys who are obsessed with it and I think they would look sexier if they left them alone / plucked less.

muchmorethanmuscle saidI also read that eyelashes serve as protection from foreign objects entering the eye. This happens as the eyelashes first feel the object which automatically triggers the eyelids to close, thus making an attempt to protect the eye itself.

And there I was thinking that eyelashes were for flirting icon_confused.gif

that could have been just as important as an evolutionary force in their development as protection from objects?

Remember, humans didn't always live in houses and our brows used to protrude a great deal, in addition we had bushier eyebrows and they did protect the eyes from dust, dirt, and nature's wrath. I think now that we don't spend a great deal of time outside, the brow has receded and eyebrows grow thinner, if not, they are groomed. So yeah, mostly for decoration, although, shaving them can create a unique look. It mostly only works for Whoopi Goldburg or anyone playing Queen Elizabeth 1 though.

And there's nothing like a lowered brow along with a glare to convey wrath. The brow beating, remember?

This is because of the the round and bouncy and slapping comment we put on liTtanker's 'My Arse' topic, isn't it?

    A-huh, thought so.

    So...paddle, or no?

Actually, men with a uni brow get me soooo hot.

MenInLove, knowing how I feel about the mature male, don't bring Little Tanker into this: it ruins the fantasy.

    And yes, paddle....HARD.

I think a guy with really masculine full eyebrows that frame his eyes is really sexy. Nothing more unsexy than overly tweezed or waxed eyebrows on a guy.

As the Michael Caine character said in the movie Miss Congenialty, as his team was trying to make over Sandra Bullock: "Eyebrows -- there should be two."

Actually, I always thought my eyebrows were intended for me to raise, at appropriately dramatic moments.
