You stole the words right out of my mouth! icon_biggrin.gif

But I do like their sandwiches. The Subway in Berkeley baked their own bread. Do they all do that? I'm guessing it was something like brown and serve rolls. That baking bread smell was a great crowd puller.

I've never liked Subway bread. It doesn't smell like real bread. It's like a forced artificial scent.

But my main gripe about Subway is that they're so stingy with the meats. Whenever I go there, I usually get a 6" turkey sandwich. And what they give me is 3 slices of turkey and a fist full of veggies. It's basically a salad sandwich.

I used to think it was just a case of a greedy franchise owner. But my experience has been pretty consistent with various Subway locations I've visited over the years.

I think Quizno's makes better sandwiches than Subway. The bread actually smells and tastes like bread. And their variety is pretty good. But they're also more expensive. Not really worthy going there unless you have a coupon or something.

For fast food, and an after the gym protein pick me up, I think they're pretty good. Key is to visit the same Subway enough that all the employees know you and then you'll find that they're a little generous with their meat (easy now)

To the best of my knowledge, yes. I do mostly flatbread, but I do like all of their breads.

I might try the flat bread next time. I forgot they offered it now. I'm kinda over the regular bread.

Oddly, I do like their tuna sandwich. And they seem to be generous with portions. But I feel like one of these days, I'm going to get food poisoning from it. icon_lol.gif

Plus the amount of mayo in it, but I still do it every few visits.

I kinda mix it up between Jason's Deli, Pie Wei, Qdoba / Chipotle, and Subway, and immediately after the gym.

In West LA, it was the little restaurant row on Sawtelle north of Olympic.

I really like tuna salad sandwiches but I always ask to see their tuna before ordering it. Most of the time it looks like tuna soup because of all the mayo they put in it and I'm just not putting that in my body.

The $5.00 Subway footlongs in January are a good deal. I actually like D'Angelo's grinders better, but you can't beat the Subway price. Wish they had them year-round. I'll be stopping in often this month on my way home from work.

Order double meat. I think it's maybe $2 extra, tops. Cheaper than two sandwiches.

Btw, Subway food looks unhealthy to me. I only go there when the only other option is fast food.

I want subway to change their tagline to

Eat fresh out of the microwave. I'm sorry but when the lettuce starts turning colors and half of your menu comes out of something electric it's not that fresh.

I must be one of the few who never could like Subway's sandwiches. I think it is the bread, it just taste starchy to me and at the same time like I'm eating air.

its garbage. $5.00 or not. All the meat looks processed. The veggies look like they have seen better days.

Yeah... I only get the tuna if I have to stop at Subway.
The problem with American/Canadian food industry is that it ALL involves bread. Bread is terrible for you. It's bad for anyone.I have no idea why there is such a cultural obsession with it... I don't want to blame England, but I blame England.
And why the fuck not use sourdough? It's better for you, and it doesn't taste like air.

In Germany, we'd be eating nothing but veggies, non-processed dairies (DELICIOUS CHEESE) a galaxy of meats and poultry, and sourdough rye bread, which is great for you.

lol, I hope the Subway shops are better than the ones up here. Nothing like seeing the staff use the same pair of latex gloves to make your sandwich, handle cash, and wipe down tables.

    *feels dizzy*

...and not in that order, either.

I dunno. I think the veggies look more real than the meats. icon_lol.gif
