    I remember seeing the aurora borealis in Upstate New York when I was growing up. It wasn't the greens and blues you see father north, just dark reds mostly, but it was pretty cool (and damn cold!).

    Far too cloudy to see here this week. Sometimes I can just catch them on a moonless clear night as a flickering over Mt. Adams, which is just about due north from here. (No artificial lights in that direction for about 80 miles.) It was easier to see when I lived a bit farther east, out in the desert with no obstruction on the northern horizon.
