I saw that blog earlier today. The majority of them I already knew about i.e wentworth, mariah, and such. And several others were very obvious such as sunjata and sparks, but the rest are all almost Quadroons and Octoroons ... of course they arent going to look 'black' to most people

Can I get something cool for being part white? Like earn almost as much as a white guy doing the same job or something?

It took too long to get all the way through but they were mostly obvious.
Maybe I'm not racist enough but it seems inconsequential to me.
BTW when did "Negroid" become an iffy word (as in "this celebrity is half African-American, half caucasian") ?

"Volleyball star Gabrielle Reece’s father was actually Trinidadian. He died when she was just 5 years-old."

Um, what? Being Trinidadian doesn't necessarily mean you are black, what a BS article.

Thanks icon_smile.gif. It's rather homophobic but no where as bad as some other Caribbean countries.

So because Mariah Carey has a White Mother and her Dad is half Black, that makes her "Black?" icon_rolleyes.gif So if at any point in our family tree someone fucked someone of another race, that makes us Black? Well, there go the race threads. We're ALL Black now!

    FYI: OP is an idiot.

It's ridic, mixed people are faced with that all the time. You have one drop of black blood in you and you are automatically black as though the other races you are mixed with have evaporated from your being.

In the United States, there's no real in between, culturally anyone who one black parent is considered black. Mariah Carey doesn't exactly run away from her black heritage.

Is it really so horrible to be identified as black? It's not some shameful label.

Never said it was but sorry I am not going to ignore the other races that I'm mixed with... Outside Western cultures, this "one-drop rule" does not apply, at least in my experience.

Of course not. No one is saying that. But some idiot has created an article that labels celebrities as being "Black" when that's the smallest fraction of their bloodline. Surely you see the dishonesty there, right? Imagine if the opposite were being done.....showing Black people who claimed to be White just because one of their relatives were half White. Would that be okay? You and I both know the Black community would be outraged that a Black person was claiming to be White. This double standard only keeps racism alive.

Do you know that African people do not even consider Afro-Caribbean people to be of African descent? The reason being is that there were not ever slaves and the amount of Caribbean racial admixture that occurred during colonial times means that they are not true Africans.

Why would you be either 'happily surprised' or 'sadly disappointed' that anyone has some African American background? I'm confused as to why it even matters?

First it's all about how the whites don't get how bad the blacks have it and now it's all about all these very successful 'blacks' are out there.

I'm more interested in who they (and you) are as people, not what race you are or have in you!

I didn't tell anyone to ignore anything, my point was that culture and genetics is separate, which is why some mixed race people get identified as black.

Most black people in the United States have non-black heritage in their background, anyway, so the term "black" is sort of fluid here.

No, not shameful. Just a bit illogical.

ISN'T IT IRONIC? The very people who say all races are equal, are always the same people who create threads about race. icon_confused.gif
