Yeah, everyone else said it about as good as anyone could. Don't boycott the games. Big league sports are political enough as it is. We don't need these irrelevant issues to get in the way of the support our athletes are going to need.

Also, if you are doing so, stop boycotting Stolichnaya. It was a mislead campaign that is not affecting Russia at all, because the international distributor of the brand is based in Latvia.

If people go, they should show their gay pride wearing rainbow shirts or flags. Silence is deadly here. The Olympics is a business foremost. Money is their god.

Of course the Olympics are a business. How else would they be put on every two years? But the games are not the enemy. The policy enforced by the Russian government is what should be protested. We should not be punishing the athletes who had no part in the decisions made in Russia.

There is a night and day difference between business and unethical business, which all big corporations are entertaining (super capitalism - Robert Reich et.al).

Actually, boycotting Stoli is dumb because they are a huge supporter of gay rights.

I wont "boycott" because I know all the athletes work hard to get there and its not their fault the Olympic Comittee are jackasses who gave the Games to one of the worst country in the world right now,in one of the worst winter city where it doesnt even snow, but its definitely the Olympics Games I will watch the less.

You make a good point about Sochi. I just looked for it on the map the other day, and it is basically the most southern city in the entire country. I wouldn't have even thought it snowed there.

So do you boycott all of the Olympic games? Or is the IOC just evil this time around, because they happened to approve the 2014 games six years before laws were passed that discriminate against your kind?

Also, by your standards, do you avoid all big businesses because you believe that they are all unethical? Do you take the time to learn about the companies and find out what exactly are the unethical things they do?

I do read public records about companies. Robert Reich have been documenting the super-capitalism practice by multi-national corporations since he was Clinton's Secretary of Labor. Super Capitalism (the book) shows how the USA is going down the tube resulting from practices by big businesses like Walmart (... remember Enron?). Microsoft had thousands of lawsuits. The largest bank in the UK (HSBC) just paid 1.2 billion dollar fine for laundering drugs money.

Monsanto is the most evil corporation in the USA (agent orange, Roundup cancer causing pesticides.) Monsanto and corporations 'buy' key US government personnel. Monsanto hired Hillary Clinton as a council in the past. Netflix has alot of these documentaries ("Government you can buy"). Al Gore called it 'Hijacked Democracy'.

Everyone knows a large portion of the US government now works for big corporations, not for the public. Canada is a much better country.

Athletes do compete outside the olympics. New sports like Break dancing has international competitions outside the Olympics (IBE, RedBull BC One ...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEWu5UtnZZA

Yes, the Olympics does not include every organized sport out there. However, I don't understand what you are trying to say with that comment. Are you implying that non-Olympic sports should be boycotted too? They have corporate sponsors as well (Red Bull, as you mentioned). In order to pay for things like venue fees, equipment, cash prizes, trophies and medals, the money has to come from somewhere. And if you are charging that all to the competitors, it will cost too much to compete and the competition will be too small to make it worth while.

And even so, how exactly do you plan on boycotting the games? Were you planning on buying tickets to the events? Are you skipping out on your country's merchandise? I'm confused.
