Using the Stroma device, at $3000 an iris, brown-eyed people can now turn their eyes blue, with some risk involved because the laser goes into ur eye, not just ur cornea. I can see brown-eyed actors getting it done so they be cast for leading roles that prefer blue-eyed actors or people with the need to conform to a eugenic mentality. What's ur opinion on this new cosmetic procedure?......

Jaggal saidStupid. Pointless. Insecure. I love Blue eyes, Green eyes, Grey eyes etc. But I am very happy with my more common hazel eyes too. I have no problem with myself, It reflects my heritage (White and Semite) which I am proud of.

Guess it says a lot about those who get it done, what they consider beautiful or think preferred.....

You know - I played through this game called Deus Ex: Human Revoltution not too long ago. The main setting of the games takes place in the future, where humans are able to get many body parts augmented; meaning robotic arms for more strength, robotic eyes for greater vision, robotic legs for faster running, ect.

The game doesn't seem so far from reality any more.

Tanner, you'll have to explain to me how this has anything to do with eugenics, which is all about genetics and breeding a super-species.

Think technology's gonna allow people to trade in things they don't find physically attractive about themselves for things that they prefer better.....

I read up on this about a year ago; the way it works is that everyone has blue eyes under the upper level of pigment which is removed. But the blue in the few pictures released at the time (given the fewer number of procedures then) wasn't a particularly nice shade, and with lighter eyes came the risk of photosensitivity.

Google "New laser surgery turns brown eyes blue but critics say it's reckless vanity", which is the article I read that inspired this thread. Article mentions eugenics in the end.

I love my dark brown eyes. Guys with blue eyes always feel cold to me, unless there's some green mixed in. Although, my Aunt has blue eyes and blonde hair; she genuinely has a beautiful heart and soul. She also believes gay guys deserve to get married.

My mother told me she dated a guy that would go on and on about how beautiful her brown eyes are, and I agree.

Actors can get contacts or I'm sure they can digitally alter eye color. Maybe wear green contacts to use a green screen/color coding effect. To permanently change your eye color for a role is silly. Most ethnic people that dye their hair platinum blonde also look silly.

My favorite eye color is a golden hazel.

    It is true, eagermuscle,
even with Lasik and PRK (which are done on cornea only), there are lots of risks and other inconveniences.

I read those with blue eyes actually have no pigment in their irises. Their irises are actually clear & reflect light, or something like that.....

It won't be. There are lower levels of electric stimulation, originally used for depression and post traumatic stress (not ECT), they found it improves focus. So now they make a headset for gamers to essentially send eletrical currents to their brain so they can focus better.

Humans want to be so perfect it's scary. The younger generations (kids in middle school ang high school) are more obsessed with appearance than my generation was.

You are quite the character. Even Beyoncé couldn't pull off natural looking blue eyes, and she shouldn't have to. She is a fine black woman with her carmel skin and dark features. Can I get an Amen!

    So excuse me forgetting
    But these things I do
    See I've forgotten if
    They're green or they're blue
    Anyway the thing is
    What I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen

What, like we're surprised that vanity makes people do stupid things?
