I hope all you have places to go....

For christmas I'm doing the family thing, some don't have a family to go to

For New Years, My friends are just having a party so no public venues till the day after.

I just hope all you either have family or friends that are your family to be with.
At this time I would have had a special someone to bring home to moma, but as long as I have them and my friends I'm happy. I know many people that are gonna be alone, I can't help but feel really bad.

    it's just another commericial holiday.

u know i went to catholic school and all that mess but the fact of the matter is factually it's not Christ's b-day it's not even close. it's just another hallmark day. not to throw a pity party but i wish it go by faster. my grandmother passed on that day and it's a shitty day to celebrate imho.

Oh man I'm sorry.... I think its a good idea, not to spend money but have an excuse day to be together with loved ones.

Since you said Holidays not Christmas Day (I am not a Christian), I guess I can reply to that. My parent have both pass away. All my other sibling is married. They have kids and family of their own and usually spend the holidays with their in-law. I have no bf or anyone special. I am gay and feel unconformtable spending holidays with straight friends. My few gays friend I have are either far away or celebrating it with their own family and loves one.

So what choice I have but spending holidays alone and feeling sorry for myself. Usually my only choice is to leave my country and backpack in some strange country. List of country I backpack to since the death of my mother Indonesia (2006), Australia (2007), and Vietnam (2008src="http://a.rjstatic.com/images/icon_cool.gif" />. It escapism for me . It keep me happy and sane.

We will spend Christmas Day at home, with our houseguest from Amsterdam. And a few others will come over for dinner, who are gay "holiday orphans."

When I was in the US Army, it was a tradition for Officers to invite junior enlisted soldiers to our homes for holiday dinners, especially on Thanksgiving. The idea was to reduce the number of young Privates who spent the holiday in the barracks, away from their families, and who had their dinners in the mess hall.

My partner & I still follow that tradition, and while we can't have every single gay or lesbian "orphan" from our community at our table, we accommodate as many as we can. I hope others think about doing the same.

I love Christmas time! I don't think it is another Hallmark holiday, it's about giving and family/friends! I love to buy people presents, I don't even get sad when I go broke either, I just laugh! Of course I still get presents, but every year I always tell my mom that all I want for Christmas is to be with my family. When it comes down to it that's all I need, they make me smile and laugh! Also, about Christmas music, there's a station in Ohio that starts playing Christmas music 24 hours a day starting the day after Thanksgiving, it's amazing! I hardly change my radio station for a month! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!!

I just made a new thread entitled "Invite a gay 'orphan' to your home for the holidays." I invite you to visit it.
