My parents waited for me to arrive home for the holidays so we ended up getting the trees kind of late compared to other years but we spent all yesterday decorating the house...

I'm sure they will pale in compared to some expertly coordinated gay Christmas trees but I have two small kids in the house...

Anybody ever use alternative Christmas trees? Something more, I know this is gonna sound odd with the Christmas tree being a plant and all, "green?"

I have seen pictures of recycled glass and plastic bottles, plastic bottles look cheap.

I'm just curious to know if other people decided to give their creative design a go and made alternative Christmas tree.

My apologies AMT87 for raining your parade, if your offened by this (yadda-yadda-yadda and all that jazz).

So it's a crappy cell phone pic, but here's my tree:

    n1384089620_156909_3831.jpg

It's decorated mostly with mermaids and mermen, martini ornaments, and condoms. With a particularly gay flourish, I call it "Mermaidi Gras".

    I'm honored.
Now if I can just get my Cher doll to balance on top...

    Hahaha.
    I'm kidding. I don't have a Cher doll.

    Here's mine:

    IMG_1025.jpg

I wanted to do something more traditional this year, so I tried to keep to red, gold and silver. I stayed with white lights as well, but I got those tiny twinkle lights to add interest.

    IMG_1027.jpg

I dressed up the dining room light by adding the star ornament and some red berries.

    IMG_1024.jpg

This is my little tree I made for fun - fiber optic silver with pink feather boas, fuchsia disco balls and silver balls.

LOL, not Latin, a portmanteau of Mardi Gras and Mermaid. Although there is a fat mermaid front and center - so I guess that works too.

Oh, and I think Timberoo's little pink tree out-gayed my tree. And by that, I mean "I wants it!" icon_smile.gif

From the digicam. Very traditional tree full of beautiful ornaments that get lost in the white light, ribbons, and bows. I plan on taking a video hopefully of my partner and I opening presents and being goofy like kids too icon_smile.gif.

Umm... sorta. After an incident a few years back, my nephew who was two at the time grabbed a couple of the figurines and accidently smashed them up into iddy biddy pieces. Oh, my mother learned to not put those out on display when my brother's and sister's come over with their kids... ha ha. Baby Jesus had no head! icon_twisted.gif Plus, we're Mexican... That friggin' tree stays up until Three Kings Day.

I really like Timberoo's holiday pic with the berries and the star hanging from the light fixture. Very nice touch.

My BF and I are getting ready to move to our new home in the next couple of days, so our Christmas tree is sitting outside in the backyard at the place I'm currently staying, waiting to be transported up to the new house when we move. This morning, I woke up to find it snowing, here in SoCal, so I shot this image of our Christmas tree. It's not all decorated, obviously, but I thought this one ornament made for a nice touch of color.
