Bizarre Girl Scout Cookie Incident

I went to Publix to pick up some soda. The
good news about this cold medicine I'm taking is that it dries me up. The bad news is that it dries me out. So, soda. Anyway, an adorable little girl is standing in front of a table piled high with boxes of Girl Scout cookies. An elderly man approaches the table and starts yelling at her.
"Do you know what the Girl Scouts are all about?" he yells. "Planned Parenthood! Abortion!"
The little girl says meekly, "Would you like to buy some Thin Mints?" She is clearly losing her nerve.
The man shouts at her "I'm not giving those Communists one penny of my money!" He is shaking with anger.
The girl's father, a big big guy (not fat-big, big-big---he looks like he played college football) gets up from behind the table, interposes himself in front of the girl, and says pleasantly, "You can't talk to my daughter like that. Go away now." His very size is an implied threat. Men like that don't have to get loud.
The old man continues ranting but his equally elderly wife pulls him away. We can still hear him ranting about transgender bathrooms and lesbians and whatnot.
The father rolls his eyes at me. The little girl holds tightly to her father's hand.
I buy Thin Mints and Samoas. Just being a good citizen, you understand.

What the FUCK is wrong with people these days?

    Another day in Florida. icon_lol.gif

But yeah, I don't get it. People vent their frustrations to the wrong individuals. Grumpy old guy should have written an angry letter to the corporate office.

I also find it kinda sad that the size of the cookies have shrunken, while the price has increased. What's up with that? icon_neutral.gif

To drive consumption and make you come back for more.

It happens ever so slightly that you don't really notice.

Also there is this thing called inflation it happens.

The inappropriateness of that situation might indicate dementia which can result in loss of inhibition.

I don't know what most people use for an excuse online.

My mother maintained most of her personality throughout Alzheimer's which made the experience of caring for her easier than what many go through, but we did have our moments. One of those was some loss of inhibition such that even though mom normally would never say anything bad about anyone, nor try to make anyone feel badly, during dementia she became fascinated with fat people and didn't hesitate to comment, in ear shot, of everyone.

So you'd be having dinner at Max's in Mizner Park when all of a sudden out from mom's mouth would come: "LOOK HOW FAT SHE IS!" in earshot of the fat lady at the next table. We'd apologize, giggle, explain the situation and go on with our meal. What are ya gonna do? It wasn't often, just enough to make life interesting. In thinking about that now, I recall how before AD she once commented how she couldn't understand how a person's skin tightens after they lose a great deal of weight. She always kept a great figure but I guess she kept that in mind and it came out when she lost inhibition.

So you want to protect the innocent, thus the wife pulling him away. She should have done that earlier, but we don't know if he gets violent with her. But also you want to continue your life as normal as possible, thus taking the husband shopping. Maybe she couldn't leave him at home. So it just creates those weird situations. Which I think better than isolating people with disease. Consider it practice for when that little girl grows up and winds up working under a CEO with a personality disorder.

We were determined to live our lives as normal as we always had throughout that damned disease. Even after we required the nursing home, even during incontinence, I'd just call in advance and have them double bag my mom so I could take her to lunch.

Even a creepy person in their right mind would have had better control over themselves at the cookie counter, so it sounds like something else was in play and not simply the guy's politics.
