I'm in a really dark place right now

I've always known that I was alone in the world, but I really know now. I have to find a new place to live in 6 days or so and I haven't been able to find anything. Working part time, full time student, sometimes I feel like the struggle never ends.

There is nothing I fear more than poverty, homelessness, and destitution, so I will fight tooth and nail to survive, but I really wish I had some help. My family is worse off than me in some ways (living off the state/gov't, in subsidized housing, etc.), so they can't help me. Friends purport to be friends but aren't there when you really need them.

I will make it happen somehow. I just need to work 10x harder than everyone else.

Yes, back to New Jersey. But what is the point, everything I have is here now.

And besides, what, New York is only for the rich now? People can't strive here anymore? Fuck that, I will stay here JUST to spite them.

As Jaggal said "They are not true friends"
Trust me, You'll be more happy by being alone than walking for company with those type of friends.

Sorry to hear this...hope everything will end sometime, hopefully sooner. Wish you all the best.

That being said, here's an interesting video...quite ironic/sarcastic...but I think it MAY cheer you up a bit!

Why do you have to find a new place in 6 days? Are you currently living with family?

If your school doesn't offer housing you could still approach someone in the administration (financial aid office?) about obtaining a short-term loan. This is a little-known fact about many colleges, they're usually fine with cutting students - especially full-time - a check. It wouldn't be for a huge sum of money and you'd be obligated to pay it back. But sometimes a little bit is all you need.

NYC (definitely most of Manhattan) is turning into a haven for the one-percenters, no doubt about it. But housing that's economical yet in decent neighborhoods still abounds in the outer boroughs. Depending on where you're in school it wouldn't be that huge of a trek on the subway to affordable sections of the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens. You'd just have to swallow your pride in terms of having a "good address." Then again, the kind of friends that pays attention to where you live is the kind it sounds like you're dealing with already.

Best o' luck! (I had to hook up a loan through my college back in the day, that's how I know that's a possibility.)
