I'll be turning 30 this year and I need a couple of ideas how to celebrate it.

I've always been a reserved hermit, but I felt since it's a big occasion that I should make it a bit more special.

So any birthday parties ideas or suggestions? What did you do on your 30th? Ever went to a Birthday party that was just amazing?

Gay people don't celebrate turning 30 as such, we just have a nervous breakdown instead and spend the day wailing and eating Ben & Jerrys.

On my 30th birthday, they locked the doors to the bar (The Ramrod).

I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

Vegas, San Francisco, San Diego, going skinny dipping at the beach, dinner, food !! etc....For my 25th bday, I saved up $$ and took a trip to Paris for about 11 days plus vacation from work, this was back in 2006. That was the best bday gift, trip ever !!!

Who even remembers 30? It was the year of the stock market crash.

Is that when the fish cart overturned at your village barter-square?

I changed careers and cities when I turned 30. Moved back that year to the city where I had been an undergraduate so I ended up feeling like I was 20 again.

On my 30th birthday itself (in summer of 1991, a couple of months before the actual move) what I remember is getting up early and getting bagels and coffee from a local bagel shop (in Portland, Maine) and meeting up with my closest local friend (a straight woman 13 years older than me) and sitting on a bench at the top of Munjoy Hill looking out onto Casco Bay.

    Have a zombie wake.

Have it the night before, everyone has to dress up like some form of undead (unless they're well under 30, then they can be "hunters of the undead". You party along in normal garb all night, but at 11:30pm, you go to the back and get carried out into the livingroom again in a (cardboard) coffin and get propped up on a table. For the next half hour, guest euligize you and your first 30 years --really more of a comedy roast...of you. Then at midnight, you "come alive" again, put on some zombie/undead makeup/costume and then party the night away or go out for last call then come back and party the night away.

    I wish I knew you irl.icon_eek.gif
