NFL Documentary Profiles Closeted Gay Player Jerry Smith

"A new documentary from the NFL Network's A Football Life series profiles Jerry Smith, a two-time Pro Bowl tight end who played for the Washington Redskins from 1965-1977 and who, by the time he retired, held the NFL record for most touchdowns by a tight end in the history of the game."

NFL Network did a great job with this one. Very touching and honest. Catch it if you can.

It was a great episode of "A Football Life"...really moving.

The gay community should start a grass roots effort to try and get Jerry Smith into the Hall of Fame. It's a damn travesty that for over 20 years, he had the record for TD's by a Tight End, and yet he's never been voted into the Hall of Fame!

Seems like an obvious case of latent homophobia, particularly given that other guys who made it into the Hall of Fame at the position had stats no where near as good as his!
