i can't find the thread that discussed this already...

what is the distinction between hot and sexy? i see both used frequently together... "i'm a hot and sexy (insert term here)."

    i thought they were interchangeable?

    or

hot = horny and sexy = attractive??

help a sista out, if you know the link to the thread...

wait, what does that mean? they're not interchangeable, but they feed off each other? obviously my definitions don't work then, because you can definitely be horny without being sexy (and vice versa).

are you saying hot is a quality of radiating/expressing sexy (or vice versa)?

    I'll give it a shot.

Hot = is about physicality and attitude.

Sexy = can be about MUCH more. Voice. Thought. Intelligence, grace, depth. Much more.

hehe i assumed that whether someone was hot or sexy or both, you'd still get horny from either one of the two.

    This is me now.....

Hot = more about physical beauty; body/face and what not.

Sexy = more about your being. The way you carry yourself. Your aurora.

I have a "flat liner" theory; you can be good looking yet NO sex appeal, ie.. Tom Cruise and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Both attractive, yet no umph to them.

Then there's those that aren't really all that good looking, if you REALLY look at them, but they got that umph about them, ie... Madonna; she's not beautiful or anything, pretty normal looking, but DAMN she got major sex appeal and knows how to use it. Same with Britney, she ain't all that great looking but she got sexiness to her. Matthew McConaughey (one of my personal FAVES), if you really look at him, he's not a beautiful man, but DAMN sex just oozes out of that man!!!!

Then there's the lucky few who have both! Halle Berry has both!! That woman could be in sweats and still look GREAT and sex would ooze from her like no ones business!!!

I've found people to be sexy who aren't hot. They're the one's that you want to have sex with but are too embarrassed to be seen with in public.

Hot is more physical, someone who's VERY easy on the eyes.

Hot is what you see with your eyes.

Sexy is more of an attitude. Its how a person carries themselves, they way the interact, the look they give, the general aura about them.

Sexy is what the other person shows you.

For example, although Brad Pitt may be hot, he's not sexy (in my opinion) whole on the other hand, Daniel Craig may not be what i would call hot (he's good looking nonetheless) but he is sexy (again...in my opinion)

    I always thought

Hot = good-looking, attractive, studly, handsome etc

Sexy = I want to have sex with them

I guess it can be a subtle difference sometimes. I find "sexy" to be more important. For example, there are lots of hot guys you see around town, but sexy implies boyfriend material. I wouldn't fuck every hot guy i saw. Just a lot of them.

    That cracks me up.

I think there was a Sex and The City with this theme ... a guy who was dating a woman he would only take to secret places, because she was not "a 10". He not only thought the sex with her was great, but maybe he was "in love" with her - just not enough to let her reflect poorly on him.

Sexy to me is a guy I find attractive and alluring.

Hot is a guy that looks good, but that I may not necessarily find attractive.

Someone can be HOT by merely walking in a room and looking the way they do, but to be SEXY it takes more than just looks -- it takes a certain style, confidence, and attitude that tends to fire up the hormones of others.

There are tons and tons of men who are hot.....they have the muscles, the tats and all the equipment in the right places......but most of the time they are NOT sexy to me.

When I call someone sexy, there is something about them that drips with sex........and that means the attitude, the voice and a certain decency and integrity to go along with a hot body. It's the whole package.

Even guys who may not have muscles sometimes are very sexy.

There are lots of guys here o RJ who look hot. But what they say and write is not sexy.

Being hot is not always sexy
    Being sexy is always hot.

    I agree.

Hot is good for a one night stand, but I'd rather come home to Sexy every night!

ahaaaaaaa... the general consensus thus far then:

hot is superficial attraction, sexy goes beyond that towards a more general sense of deisreability.

okay. that clarified it for me. thank you!

Hot means you just look good. its strictly looks.

Sexy is an aura/attitude: the way u move, the way u talk, that confidence.
a person that is not hot can be very sexy altho a lot of times a sexy person has both.

a couple of examples of this are:

Heidi Klum is hot but Adriana Lima is sexy (altho she is hot too)

or Hugh Jackman is hot but Oliver Martinez is sexy (as well as hot)

Hot, sexy, fuckable, want to do the horizontal mambo with you, very strong bf material, 9/10 ... To me they all mean the same thing. "I want your sex" to quote George Michael.
