venue35 saidThat is so weird!! I was thinking about this movie all day yesterday..
What a great movie ... tom cruise...anne rice gagged when he was cast ..telling the press the movie was gonna be a piece of shit..then she saw it and publicly apologised. She loved it! I think it's even better than the book..
Kirsten dunst is so evil in this!
Im surprised you discovered it now..it came out 19 years agoicon_confused.gif

Of course I knew about it and even watched little parts on cable during the years but never had the chance to actually watch it all and I had no idea it was so gay. Cruise and Banderas romantically chasing Pitt who was a formerly family man, and then turning into a gay submissive vampire bitch and even adopting the little vamp girl with him ha ha! How can it become gayer than that?

I bought one of the ruffled shirts that was used in the film from Anne Rice, but she couldn't tell me which actor had worn it. She said she had gotten several pieces from the movie.

IMO, a homoerotic theme runs thru all of Anne Rice's novels.

venue35 saidThere is a homoerotice feel to it...but remember vampires don't have sex. They just want their victims to be kind of hot whether they are male or female.
The Brad pitt character doesn't become a bitch at all he actually really suffers as a vampire. And Lestat realizes this and probably regrets making him a vampire. Louis needs to be more evil and not be so whiny all the time. His second mistake was making kirsten dunst a vampire because she turns out to be a conniving murderous bitch!!

wait, what? All the while I was watching the movie I was thinking of Lestat forcing Pitt into having sex with him, now you totally ruined my fantasy.

venue35 saidThat is awesome !! I dont think anne rice lives there anymore does she??
All i can say is that must be the coolest fucking gift ever!!!!!

No. She moved several years ago. I bought it from her when she lived on Napoleon Avenue. I lived three blocks from her at the time. One year I painted pumpkins and had them on my porch. She came up and bought one from me for her annual Halloween ball. I felt pretty honored.

I wonder why she didn't have her son cast in this.

I saw the movie when it came out back in the 90's and I always loved it. I have the DVD in my closet right now. They did a good job of making the book into a movie. After reading almost all of the Vampire Chronicles book it's clear Anne Rice is a bisexual man in a woman's body lol. A lot of her male vampires are bi. Lestat had a male lover when he was human so that carried over into his vampire life even though he and Louis didn't really have sex. In the other books they did kiss and were intimate.

Anne knows how to turn me on in her books lol. Her stories are so sexy.

Somethings work better without the realism of film.

For me, it was better for my reader's imagination than watching it as a film.

At the time the movie came out, I thought Brad Pitt was a more handsome blonde than Cruise with a blonde wig.

You CANNOT see the physical beauty of Brad Pitt in A River Runs Through It (1992) and then see him, in a wig/extensions/dyed hair, play second-fiddle to Tom Cruise in a wig/extensions/dyed hair (1994).

David Bowie played a vampire in The Hunger (1983).

This was one of the few films where the movie ending was better than the book.

    "Oh, Louie, Louie...!"

I know I've tried several times, but I'm not sure I've stayed awake through the whole thing.

And slightly off-topic, but somebody needs to say it: Christopher Rice needs a real editor who will stand up to his mommy and make him re-write that crap until he learns about plot and continuity.
