Americans don't have that much patience, and it's confusing - is it baseball, is it bowling, is that a canoe paddle, what is the pitcher running from? wtf!

because cricket is not "american" enough.

The rest of the world says football, we call it soccer. USA likes to be difficult. haha

I think it has more to do with the US/British history with each other. Should England had retained control of the colonies here, we would most likely have adopted Cricket, just as the other colonies of the old English Empire did. Former French or Spanish possessions do not hold cricket in very high esteem either.

It's a feudal game involving serfs and lords that takes days to play and has a ridiculous scoring system. Ain't nobody got time for dat. (By the way, my grandfather was British and I learned to play when I was a child. I even have a trophy of his from Savannah, Ga. dating to about 1909.) I actually do love the game.)

Cricket is catching on in various cities. Oddly, in Lauderhill, Florida. http://www.southfloridacricket.com/

You ask why cricket isn't popular here. I ask why baseball isn't more popular elsewhere? Two sides of the same coin.

Having grown up about 5 miles from the Hall of Fame, I can tell you I've seen enough baseball to last a lifetime and don't care for it all that much.

Because no one can figure out the fucking rules.
Far as I can tell, someone pitches the ball to a guy who hits it with something that looks like a rowing oar, then he runs back and forth between two croquet poles until falling down totally out of breath. One team stays at bat until all the spectators get bored and leave or pass out from all the alcohol, and scores of 137-6 are fairly common.

So, speaking of baseball. What about opening the season in Sydney? Interesting or ridiculous?
