What kind of bar scene do you like? Gay or doesn't matter? Sports, cruisey, leather, drag, DJ/VJ, stripper, quiet, CW, older, brunch option, neighborhood, we have them all, in FtL and adjacent Wilton Manors.

I'm looking for any special events at places I go for this Sunday, Feb 9, but so far nothing. Try this site. Very extensive, takes some navigating:

Fort Lauderdale and neighboring Wilton Manors offers just about anything you would like. Georgie's Alibi, on the main strip in Wilton Manors, seems to be the "default" place where everyone goes. There are a slew of other smaller places in the area as well. Business owners, to a degree, attempt to offer enough for the locals and the tourists. I like Rosie's and Sidelines (gay sports bar) which are in the immediate area too.

Two new and popular Wilton Drive bars are the Village Pub, and Rumors. For disco there's The Manor, and also the newly-renovated Hunters, formerly Boom. For a western place go to Scandals, but it's 5 blocks north of the drive. Further away on the border of WM is the Boardwalk, which has strippers and some drag.

The Alibi is in decline, not the bar it once was. And its companion Bill's directly across the street is no better. Sidelines is lesbian-owned, and while lots of guys go there, expect plenty of women, too. Forget Tropics, unless you enjoy the geriatric crowd. Rosie's is a great patio restaurant, my favorite for lunch, but the bar is secondary, cruising difficult at night.

We were at Georgie's Alibi for lunch a few weeks ago, the patio was nice, mostly an older crowd. Swinging Richards a few exits north of WM was a sleazy strip club, the eye candy was ok. Boardwalk was better, and it seemed friendly enough. I was only at each of these places once, we stayed in Lauderdale on the beach.

When I've visited Ft. Lauderdale, Georgie's and Rosie's were fun places to spend the afternoon. I need to plan a trip back down there soon. icon_cool.gif
