Are you tuned in to the emotions of others? Or have you been accused of being insensitive? (A photographic quiz is provided at the link at the end to test your emotional radar.)

If you are among those people who are mystified by moods, new research offers hope. A new study shows that certain types of reading can actually help us improve our sensitivity IQ. To find out how well you read the emotions of others, take the Well quiz, which is based on an assessment tool developed by University of Cambridge professor Simon Baron-Cohen.

The test is too limited. It's just pics of eyes. Tone of voice and body language are just as, if not more, important. icon_wink.gif

That would require the guy above to

    A) remember how they felt when they took the pic
    B) be honest when you decided how they felt when said pic was taken
    C) torso pics icon_lol.gif

(although I have remarked in the past that torso pics look like surpised faces with the belly buttons as mouths going, 'ooh!')

Would you? I like that. I've received warnings from RJ members to regulate my giggles. Giggles!

32/36. These things are so silly. About as accurate as a reality tv show. Or any tv show for that matter.

Maybe it's because I was born under the sign of Cancer, I am definitely tuned into the emotions of others.

    I didn't take the test.

I have been accused of being insensitive but I can read emotions easily. I don't understand why or how. I just chalk it down to instinct. However I do love to people watch.

I wish I could be inscrutable, have a poker face. Everyone says they can read me like a book. I make a terrible liar, I even blush red. icon_sad.gif

As for me reading others, it's very much hit-or-miss. I can be very sensitive with some people, and clueless with others. Just like I'm easy to read by others, I assume it's the same with them, and any "ability" I have with reading is due to their being strong projectors of their emotions. When I can read them it's because they're presenting the "BIG PRINT" version, as I do myself. LOL

BTW, I scored 34. Despite what I wrote just above, I can read eyes alone very, very well. In fact, I think I would have scored better, but some of the pics on my screen were so dark I could hardly make out details, those are the couple I flubbed.

I've always said I often avoid looking into people eyes when talking with them, which some find annoying and even insulting, because of what I can see there. It's like catching someone with their clothes off, an invasion of privacy.

So part of my inability to read people is actually self-inflicted - I look away, because I feel I'm intruding, plus I might not like what I find there.

woodsmen saidIs it my imagination that the conservative members on this thread have lower emotional scores than the progressive members?

isnt that what being conservative is all about? lack of compassion and empathy for progress in others? and conservative with human expression/emotion.

Not sure about that premise. Conservatives might still PERCEIVE human emotions as well as anyone, which that eye test measured, but merely choose to IGNORE them as their policy and track record demonstrates.
