I'm still trying to wrap my mind around Hitler's Olympics speech being the first TV broadcast and the fact that aliens, if they're there, will see this first.

Does anyone know what the actual speech was?

All I've been hearing from the news media ia how fucked up pretty much everything is in Sochi. From the hotels and ski-lifts, to the actual venues themselves. Things not being completed, water that is unuseable, and not to mention pictures of putin in every hotel room so that people will not forget who's running the show over there. icon_rolleyes.gif

I dunno how Sochi even won the title to host the Winter olympics in the first place. It's a very dangerous part of the world. Hope nothing goes down during the olympics.

Tho if terrorisis were smart they'd attack Moscow during the olympics because all their police are in Sochi. It'd be such a win for the terrorists.

This Olympics is just one big giant mess. I don't know how that podunk town won the rights to host one, if not THE, most important global event. SMH, at those silly Russians right now....icon_rolleyes.gif

I suppose after the title change, I should add trivia.
Did you know Sochi is surrounded by the Caucasian Biosphere Reserve?
    The hell?

Something's bound to go wrong there - not that I'm hoping for it - but if they make a movie about it, I hope they use your idea. icon_wink.gif

On the news, a spokesman for Sochi said, "We'd be very lucky if there is no terrorist attack."
Yikes - What has the world come to?

eh ... its the winter Olympics ... they're really pretty boring ... I think a lot of what you're hearing about Sochi is because they really have nothing to report on, so they report on everything else to make it exciting.

Does anyone know if they managed to finish the Olympic village in Sochi yet?

This is what it looked like two weeks before the start of the games:

Interesting story on Cracked.com, especially the part where "Sochi's Mayor says that the city is magically gay free."

A lot of bribery is how Sochi got selected. I mean, Olympics in a third world country? What could possibly go wrong? On a related note, the World Cup in Brazil should be amusing.

I learned this from latin and mexican people I used to work with, it is common to throw your used toilet paper (after wiping) on the floor or waste basket and not flush it, while in the US, some mexicans and I guess koreans too, continue to do this even though they don't have to, it appears done from habit. I once asked the restroom attendant at work (who was mexican) why some people throw toilet paper on the floor in the corner of the stall. Just as long as the attendant did their daily cleaning. So, doing this seems to be a cultural thing, backwards though, is this where the term "dirty mexican" was coined?, apparently, dirty russians too

I don't know any Koreans that drop used TP on the ground. Trust me. Korea is light years ahead of Mexico in every sense.

Koreans do it too, (maybe North) either on the floor or basket, do these countries not have plumbing standards?
