    which would it be?

this ridiculous question popped in my juvenile mind last week when i had gone for my std testing... clean again icon_smile.gif i test every 2-3 months... but i was noticing some guys there with a cold... then i was wondering which would i rather have if it were a choice... honestly i hate hate hate having a cold so much... you feel like crap for a week or more and it affects everything... and the stuffed nose gets me crazy... anyway, i'd rather have the STD... now by std i mean a simple one that can be cured with a shot or something... not the grand master of the STD's or one where your peen turns green and falls off...

so far i've avoided any major colds this winter... at the gym i am very careful and clean the machines and wash the hands a lot...

careful with the boys too but you never know...

i wonder if we will we get some holier than thou answers? lol...

**it's really hard for some gays to lighten up isn't it... oh well...

cold. I feel getting an STD, even a minor one would be like opening a Pandora's box. It might act as an enabler for the other STDs.

dommy, std tests can come back negative...even though there is one present. That doesn't happen with a cold. Why not just protect yourself from both?

Cold any day. I play safe and still get scared during std screenings, not something I would like to experience

A cold isnt as taboo obviously...icon_rolleyes.gif

well yeah... did you read my post? i state clearly that it's a ridiculous question but why can't we ask dumb / ridiculous questions? do we have to be so serious all the time?

i like this site becasue you can chat and message and ask random things... i once asked which futurama character you wanted to date... i mean that's stupid but i got some great answers...

and like i said i reallllllly cant stand colds... the stuffed nose gets me claustrophobic... i get scared how serious it will be... ugh... but ghonerea (sp?) for example would suck but it's just a little burning and discharge... you get a shot and you're done...

um... ok... who said i didnt? who mentioned false testing... omg you are so serious... i think we found the winner of the holier than thou response... lol... dont be mad im just teasing... how do you prevent colds and stds 100 percent? asking as a single person not in a monogamous relationship... im assuming abstinence or wear a condom even for oral sex or kissing... and how do you prevent colds? i practically bathe in hand sanitizer at the gym... i wash all the time... hands that is but other body parts as well... i avoid sick people... how do you do it beyond that? best way i would guess would be not to leave the house... so a sexless agoraphobe would be set i thibnk... seriously though what do you do? again as a single person who doesn't want to get either...

Hard to say as I sit here at home still suffering from a cold that hit full force last Tuesday (4 days ago) but had been creeping up on me before that. I called in sick from work obligations Wednesday, Thursday, Friday night and Saturday morning but did go in to my office for a few hours on Friday morning feeling like the walking dead. I know I'm over the worst of the cold but, like a true RJ guy, I've been freaking out about not being able to exercise, other than a few situps, crunches, etc. at home before I get stymied by coughing and shortness of breath. I've never had an STD, but would a minor, curable one be worse than this? Dunno.

People die from the cold every day, whereas everyone or so gets herpes one day or another and most don't even realize it. A real cold is going to keep you in bed for at least 4-5 days straight... decision is easy.

sorry you're sick... everything you describe is my biggest fear this time of year... that's kind of what i would rather not have compared to a minor std... but i'm in the minority here...

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidEveryone should be choosing a cold. STD's require antibiotics to eradicate the infection. This costs money and could also lead to antibiotic resistance or the STD'S are, in less common situations, already becoming resistant to treatment themselves.

    This is a no brainer.

i had this discussion with friend regarding resistant bacteria to antibiotics... is it on an individual basis? or is it as a species we are taking too many? i believe it's as a specied... one event is not doing harm to you individually... i dont think one person choosing std in this hypothetical situation is creating monster bacteria resistant to antibiotics...

personally i avoid as much as i can... dont even use anti bact soap though i use hand sanitizer at the gym... studies show hand sanitizer works best... as for soap... best to use reg soap as anti bact soap is barely better and adds to creating that resistant bacteria...

You're talking about the flu, not a cold! I swear, the lack of knowledge of diseases from some people on this site is scary! Let's just say that I'm glad some of you guys are not healthcare professionals because if you were, you'd be doing the public a disservice!

Dommy, thanks for your get well wishes. I'm feeling somewhat better this morning after staying home all day Saturday. Might even try to get to the gym today to do some light weight work and to walk not run on the treadmill. It particularly sucks that it's too cold to just take a long walk outside. (5 below zero right now). This too shall pass!

5 below? ha... so happy i live in LA... i jog to the gym every day... even in winter... i generally goto the gym now when sick... not really sick like a fever... but if i have a head cold i go and i make sure to not leave my germs anywhere... i feel so good when working out... it's such a relief in the middle of having a cold... i also find since i started working out almost every day my colds are shorter in length and less severe... when i goto the gym not feeling well i dont sit next to anyone and if i use a machine i clean it... (i do mostly cardio anyway) dont like to get anyone sick... with cold or std... and wouldnt go if i had a severe cough... luckily it's been a while (knock on wood) lol
