Learning wrestling as an adult

I have had a bit of an on-again-off-again fascination with wrestling. As my profile name probably leads on, running has been the thing that has been driving my fitness the last couple of years. However over that time I really never ramped up my strength training. I just can't get a good focus on that. Today I started thinking that a good way to get implicit strength training and to give me focus with strength training would be to explore my interest in wrestling.

The problem I have is that I would literally be starting at point zero. I've never wrestled at any time in my life, unless you count horse play as a kid. I haven't been following the sport or studying the rules. I'm basically a blank canvas. I figured guys on this forum would be able to provide insight into whether it's possible for a guy like me to pick something like this up later in life and if there are any gay clubs for this.

I'm not looking for wrestling as a prelude to sex sort of thing. It's not that horseplay into sex is bad, it's just I'm looking for some actual training and instruction in this.

Does anyone have any good suggestions on how I could do that?

    Thanks!

It's very possible for you to pick this up at this point in your life! It won't even take you that long to get the hang of it either, and it will get you in incredible shape. You also will have so much confidence its great. Look for mma gyms by you that offer "submission wrestling." Start going to these classes at least four times a week and in no time you'll be building your skills. Submission wrestling is great because it's jiu jitsu combined with wrestling so you get to learn both at the same time. Good luck!
