Be honest, how long are your workouts?

It's hard for me to work 9 to 10 hour days where I'm not sitting at a desk to then workout. I'm constantly running back and forth, lifting, bending, and climbing ladders all day so I'm exhausted when I leave work.

What do your workouts look like? I average 90 minute full body workouts 3 days a week. I always begin with the Planet fitness 30 minute circuit and then strength/resistance training for an hour.

I'm also interested to know how long I would need to workout for to have the big muscle arms, chest, and toned torso every guy wants to have. I see people like that at my gym looking at themselves in the mirror more than actually working out.

A workout plan can change based on what you want to accomplish. You don't have to do the same thing each of they days you go to the gym. A few givens, even if you are active at work, starting with cardio is important, gets the heart rate up and body ready for more.

Monday: 30 minutes cardio-it takes 12 minutes to get heart rate up to where you are doing good, then the other 18 is where you help yourself.

Then the other hour can focus on a certain muscle area-say upper body, with some mid body (abs)

    Wednesday: 30 minutes cardio

60 minutes lower body and mid body (abs)

    Friday: 30 minute cardio

60 minutes mixed upper and lower, pick the areas you want to concentrate on arms, chest, quads-

    Hope this helps

Gym: rarely longer than 1 hour (3 x week)

Swim: rarely longer than 45 mins or about 3000 yds (2 x week)

Run: rarely longer than 90 mins for my weekly long run and about 45 mins each for two shorter tempo runs (

Bike: generally 1 long ride (3+ hours), one medium ride with intervals (2+ hours) and one short hard ride (1+ hour)

15-20 minutes core (crunches, pushups etc.)
    45-60 minutes weightlifting
    45-60 minutes cardio
    5-10 minutes stretching

Basically, unless I skip the lifting and just do cardio (which is often the case), I can't get in and out of the gym in less than 2.5-3 hours without feeling rushed.

Use to be an hour but no I'm lucky to get in 30 minutes. Burnout and fatigue has just wiped out my desire to even go. I just don't have the energy anymore. icon_sad.gificon_sad.gif

6 days a week, 20 minutes of cardio (running, biking) and about 90 minutes for my days that arent shoulders, biceps, and triceps. days when it is those its about 2 hours and 15 minutes-30minutes.

but a lot of people only workout one body part a day. I just chose to do two to three a day

If it's been a long work day, then 15-20 min of cardio and 20-30 minutes of strength training, and my 10 minutes of sauna time (as a reward to myself for working out)

On shorter work days I treat myself to 20 min of cardio, and 40 min of strength training.

Some days I go play outside (hiking, kayaking, snowboarding, bicycling) for hours which is my favorite way to work out.

I am getting between 45 min to 90 min of muscle building exercises done as of late. It's Canadian winter and traveling in the cold wind on a bicycle when the bike paths and sidewalks aren't clear makes it an hour long getting to the gym alone, and 40 min traveling back (I've used my bike once to do this this winter so far).

This is every other day, but sometimes I have to skip icon_sad.gif

Sadly I'm on my parent's time on car rides (I would love spring to be here sooner though... the freedom of the bicycle... I also wouldn't have to train my legs since it's 45 min to there and 30ish back *sigh*).

    Cardio - 10-15 mins (2-3 days a week)
    Abs/Core - 15-30 mins (4 days a week)
    Weightlifting - 1hr (4-5 days a week)

So any where from 1hr 30mins to 2 hrs 4-5 days a week.

Sometimes 2.5 hrs if I workout with my best friend.
