No workout in Seattle due to snow--again

Damnit! I couldn't work legs on Sunday because the gym was inaccessible. Snow and ice made many roads too trecherous in Seattle (the gym I wanted to reach is down a hill covered in ice). And today all the branches of my gym are closed because of the snow that blanketed Seattle last night.

I like the snow. It's pretty. Snow lightning and thunder are cool, too. But can an addict get a break around here? I gotta lift!

I walk to my gym, even when its cold and I have to walk through snow.

Its a good cardio work out before hitting the weights. Its about a mile and a half to my gym

I used to do that, too. It's a mile to the location near my home--downhill. Two years ago I got to about 50 yards from the gym before I slipped on the ice and fell hard on my back. Think cartoon banana peels.

But that's not the problem today. I now have great Kahtoola overshoes with crampons built in. But the gym is closed all day. All locations are closed due to the weather. So there's nothing to walk to.

(Walking on leg day is not an option, though. Legs get too trashed. Walking uphill a mile to get home when I can barely walk on a level surface? Uh-uh.)

Agreed, COJo

@ Seapower
Do you not have some free weights at home that you can at least keep some routine with when the gym isn't open?

Haha! The thunder and lightning yesterday morning scared me out of my wits when it woke me up at 5:30 am!!

I have a friend who is a trainer at a gym downtown Seattle, and apparently that gym was open, and he was pissed off that people kept cancelling their training sessions because of the weather. What is worse, people cancelled on Wednesday night, because they thought it would snow! It amazed me that people were scared of the snow before it even came.

When I was your age, I walked 10 miles each way to the gym in the rain, sleet, snow and blazing sun.

And it was uphill both ways. AND MB had to fight off the dinosaurs.

We have a had a week of snow and ice, and I love it, no one in the gym except the serious folks. You could just smell the testosterone.
