I've been debating for the longest between a Blendtec and a Vitamix, and after much research, I decided on the new Blendtec with the 4" blade.

I've only ever had a regular blender and a juicer, so I'd love suggestions on what to do with this thing. I put my juicer away over a year ago after realizing I was throwing most of the fiber away. I literally just got home with it half an hour ago. I immediately mixed up some kale and mango juice with coconut water. It was surprisingly tasty.

I'd love to hear your recipe ideas and suggestions.

Yay! Years on RJ and I'm finally validated: http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/3604967/

I've had a horrible flu (and have been in a horrible mood) the past couple of days. Times like these when I'm dead on my feet and need something easy I head to my Blendtec for something healthy and filling, like this green smoothie:

    - liquid egg white
    - water
    - ice
    - 40g vanilla protein powder
    - acai powder
    - goji powder
    - pomegranate powder
    - raw cacoa nibs
    - fistful of collard greens (the only green I had available today)
    - two frozen bananas
    - fistful of frozen blueberries

Too bad I'm out of ginger.

With less water, more protein powder and using the "ice cream" setting this would've made 3 portions of great protein ice cream (the first serving's more shake-like, pouring the remainder into two pint containers and refreezing is more ice cream-like).

I got our friends whatever was the best Ninja blender as a Christmas, 2012 gift. It seems to work well for them. We still have some ancient Osterizer blender in our own kitchen, but we use it like twice a year, so no urgency to replace it.

I did get him a Cuisinart food processor this past year, a large commercial-grade 16-quart thing, which is somewhat related. And he uses that a lot for his Italian caponata, that he puts up in dozens of jars at a time. But the blender, no, he hardly touches that.

I hate this guy's videos. He's always destroying perfectly usable electronics and for what purpose? Shock value to draw more viewers to his cheesy videos with 1960's music? Not mention the dust he breathes in from all the debris he creates might give him lung cancer. Total foolishness.

You're not bothered by his smarmy attitude?

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidOh, almost forgot to mention that I will also add a couple tablespoons of flax seeds to the smoothie to really grind them up into a powder. This helps too really breakdown the seed's barrier in order to absorb their nutrition.

SP: This will "cloud" the carafe so if that bothers you if you keep it on your countertop you can buy a second carafe.

MM: Or maybe you can just use ground flaxseed powder. Wouldn't that be almost as good? I just sprinkle this in my steel cut oatmeal:

Yeah, the douchey video almost turned me off to buying one.
