i wonder... do people know how bad something like this is while they're making it and they persevere anyway, or do they honestly have hope?

this is pure camp on so many levels that although it is nearly unwatchable i'm still in love with it.

So you're telling me that the ultimate battle between good and evil comes down to a slapfight between a creaky cardboard puppet and a slightly flabby cross-dressing 'roidhead who can't act his way out of a paper sack?

Hmm. I always suspected as much.

Ha Ha! That's what we got before special effects with computers.

I'll be nice and not say who's penis's appear at 1:00. Wasn't that guy on The Partridge Family or was it Eight is Enough and why does he have female breasts at 3:17? It so does not work with his hair.

That was so bad it was fantastic! It would have been better as a musical at around 5:00 with the demon playing air guitar with that blond guy singing instead of the music we got. Fight scene might have been better.

I think there's a lot to be said about muppets and ooze and slime and the pre-CGI years.

Of course, this is just a $5-budget example.

And then you had stuff like this:

Goop and gross shit reels the viewer in, while the sleek smoothness of most CGI leaves one saying "wow that was neat" in the moment, only to forget it later.

As is with most things in life, less is more, quality over quantity.

Also, brolyn, thank you for pumping life into this awesome thread.

    GREG
that remake of THE THING was all over cable when i was a kiddo.
i watched it every time it was on...........

    *realizes why i'm so warped*

the effects do look awkward by today's standards but there is something interesting about organically made alien monsters.....

I guess I like awkward then as it's my favorite horror flick. Pretty much.

    This probably isn't surprising.

I can't recall the last time I laughed so hard. Had to keep wiping away tears so I wouldn't miss anything. It was horrid on so many levels.

    Thanks so much!

Bad Taste is in my new Netflix queue. AND I LOVE CHOPPING MALL. Is there any "chopping" in Chopping Mall, one may ask? No, but I appreciate the cutesy pun nonetheless.

But Brolyn, if you want the Godmother of all trashy "horror" flicks, look no further than TROLL 2:

Troll 1 also isn't bad (it stars Sonny Bono) for trashy, but nothing beats the brilliant dialogue of the sequel.
