    Nothing new here. Just a press release about a "me too" study. Some pretty stupid comments in the article. For one thing, just because microbes can survive high-altitude transport does not mean that they are metabolically active. And bacteria don't have to be "engineered" to transform greenhouse gases, they can already do it quite well, as long as there is energy available.

    Bacteria survive under the most life-threatening circumstances. It's really fascinating.
    I'm sure if you take bacteria that are quite resistant to variations in temperature and arid regions, you could place them on Mars and they will cultivate and colonize it.
