Dad, who killed his gay son, jailed for life

A Turkish court has found a father and two uncles guilty over the manslaughter of a 17-year-old teen

"The mother of the killed teen requested the press be removed from the courtroom.

At one point, she yelled: ‘If [my son] were gay, I would have killed him with my own hands! You have shamed us!’ "

The mother is a real winner. Maybe she can be a speaker at the next Republican National Convention?

I'm amazed that there was any justice done here. There is some hope for Turkey to be part of the civilized nations of the free world, if not the EU. These religious-inspired honor killings (usually of women) typically don't result in any punishment in the 3rd world (and not very vigorous prosecution in europe, either).

I'm sure they've already tried to book her.

You of all people shouldn't be throwing stones about someone having a "screw loose", SB. icon_rolleyes.gif ..you've got more fake accts than anyone in RJ history, prattle on to yourself in your own threads about stuff no one else clearly cares about, and hang around here when you're always complaining how awful people are...you're the one with the screw loose, honey.

And YOU complaining about turning any old discussion political? Are you serious? What are you mad at, that he's stepping on your toes and cramping your style?? If you weren't turning bullshit into politics every time you open your pie hole, you'd never say a word on here.

You'll seem a lot less impotent when you stop accusing others of sins you're ten times more guilty of, lol. Until then, we'll all continue to laugh at you. icon_wink.gif

I don't think you understand the complex dynamics of the country, and the more recent islamization. There is no hope for Turkey or any Muslim country and the EU should only let them in if it wants to commit suicide faster.

Actually, I do. The biggest problem is that the current president has such wide support by the un- or poorly educated masses. The country has regressed a long way since Attaturk. It is within the realm of possibility that as a new generation matures, respect for human rights will become a part of the country's values. Becoming a part of the EU was never a good idea for the EU, since Turkey is not european, and has never had european values. So, unless great changes occur, it won't ever become a member of the EU.

Oh but we must be tolerant of Muslims. This is just their culture so we shouldn't interfere.
