Stuffy IOC officials ruin it.... One reason it's boring to watch the olympics.

The news just said there is not enough snow in Sochi for the Olympics but fortunately they kept a lot of snow from last year in cold storage.
    How wild is that?

Ya, I was pissed off at all the gay stuff and the dog issue but reluctantly excited to watch the great athletes. But the venues aren't working and I've gotten semi-sick to my stomach watching Putin hold court in so many photo ops. I've quit watching.

yeah from the starting gate! bad press for the dog extermination program, then one of the rings not opening, then bob costas gets pink eye and they replace him with matt lauer, ( pretty much a lateral move, i can't stand either of them ) attendance is so low they have to get school kids and military to fill the empty stands. alot of US athletes not having their best days, etc.

but to be fair it's going alot better than i thought it might. and a russian billionaire stepped in and saved the wild dogs. that made me smile,

NBC's ratings have been much higher than Turin and Nagano, and are on par with Vancouver and Salt Lake City, which is remarkable given the 9 hour time difference. Perhaps Putin just planned on getting people talking about Russia and the Olympics to drive ratings?

Every athlete had an equal opportunity to perform their best in a half pipe that was not the best for Olympic competition. Keep in mind, these athletes didn't perform on ideal conditions when they took up the sport. Guess we should blame the conditions of the half pipe on global warming. These athletes should be glad they get to perform. I'm sure there are 100s of snow boarders who would love to be in Shaun White's shoes and be happy to just be in the Olympics.

Why not just use Teflon flakes instead of show flakes?

there's no EPA in Russia, they can still use this over there:
