Apparently, my crush managed to plan a date with someone, and I'm spending Valentine's Day tomorrow at a covention most likely surrounding by couples. Though I'm sort of happy, it becomes angering when experiencing another romantic failure. I try to find closure by accepting our friendship and being happy for him, but it's a tad infuriating when you take the initiative of finding a mate and writing your own happy ending only to fail in the end instead of waiting for something to happen. Ultimately, I suppose that's how life is.

Always lust after a variety of people to avoid one person making that much difference to your life. Think of it as diversifying your portfolio.

You said it "crush" = infatuation; not love.

So it was not real yet - nothing existed outside of your fantasies. Like counting unhatched chickens - best for our emotional health not to do it.
