This winter is headed for the record books as one of the worst in decades. Record snowfall and low temps in the north, ice storms in the south, drought and wildfires in the west, winds and flooding in Britain and Northern Europe.

So how are you surviving this winter from hell? Or, share your winter horror story.

And guys from the Southern Hemisphere-- STFU unless you have a "summer from hell" story! icon_lol.gif

you got a coating where you're at? we didn't even get snow. it was more like flurries. didn't even stick icon_cool.gif they say that it might warm up next week which is good because there's still a foot of snow that hasn't even melted yet. icon_sad.gif even though the roads are somewhat clear, it's as if it just snowed though it was a week ago because the snow is all up on the sidewalk, in people's front lawns, yards and etc. icon_sad.gif if we got any extra snow, we would be screwed and knowing how unpredictable the weather forecast is, we're not safe yet.

even looking outside, people are literally parking on top of the snow. icon_lol.gif

Yeah - it was light rain/drizzle late morning start then in early afternoon mixed with wet snow and turned to all snow at 4PM then started sticking. About an hour or two later I noted it stopped but added a coating. Getting colder so it will freeze. No salt trucks seen either!

We did get that nasty ice storm very early on.
From that point on, we were just south enough to only get a dusting of snow once. Plenty of cold nights in the 20' and 30's, but nothing like one or 2 states above me.
I feel lucky to have dealt with only cold temps!
Today was back to 62 and sunny.

^^ I live in the OC-LA metro, it's pretty warm/hot moderate here. I can't stand the cold, wet weather, even in my 3 yrs living in SF. I never get into its wet, cold, dampy weather. I watched CNN a lot and they covered the weather in the midwest and NYC like crazy. I feel lucky living in a warm climate over here in LA.

YourName2000 saidJust a horrible winter! My goodness, we had almost 2 whole inches of snow! And the cold --had to be 2 or 3 weeks where water was actually freezing all by itself! Outside no less! icon_eek.gif

It almost dipped below freezing again last week. Thankfully it didn't, because all of the flowers that started blooming mid-January would not have liked that one bit. icon_neutral.gif

Anyway, winter has FINALLY come to end --thank you Jesus. Judging by the lawns, I'll be hearing lawnmowers soon.

    Hmmmm. . .

My driveway is like a bob sled run and I'm stuck here tonight posting. Why don't you come over and give me a plow? icon_twisted.gificon_twisted.gif

When I left for work this morning, it was cold, but when I got out around mid-morning, it was too hot for my hat and jacket.

It wasn't quite 70 today so I didn't take my dogs to the beach. When will the winter ever end?

Nice. Just don't turn on your tap; flush your toilet; take a shower; wash your clothes, car or dishes; water your garden or pets; fill your swimming pool etc etc. EVER. AGAIN.

My house is encased in ice, driveway is an ice tunnel, and snow piles are over my head. Wish I could hibernate til spring.

It's funny the way your body slowly adjusts to it. I just went out to get the newspaper and thought, "Gee - things are warming up. The snow will melt soon."
Then I looked at the thermometer and saw it was 20 degrees.

Survived being without heat and power for 8 days back in December. Christmas was spent at McDonald's charging my phone and battery.

Next time I hear of a winter storm coming, going to jump on an airplane to any where warm. Should have gone to the airport, would have been warmer than my house.

Has Eurpoe had a warmer than normal wintere - hearing the Sochi weather? Damn 62 degrees at winter games - granted I know down by the coast and not in the mountains but mountains prob only 30 degrees colder so right at freezing. I recall Vancouver being warmer than expected 4 years ago so much that they had to cart in snow in 2010.

We'll admit it: we're not men enough for that crap. We'll see our friends on the mainland when it's over!

All I can say is that I am winter weary. I am tired of the single digit, Arctic cold and I am tired of the piles of snow that block every sidewalk and storm drain. I am tired of shoveling this frozen white shit. It is time for a seasonal change. Winter has definitely wore out its welcome this year.

The UK has, no easterly or northerly winds this winter so it's been mild. A little damp though.

I just moved in Nov. from Iowa to California, was a good year for it!

But I did experience some of the weather hassle. Was back home the 26th with date of leaving on the 3rd, and weather was mostly decent then but with a big temperature drop expected on the 5th & 6th. I thought I was going to beat it as I was flying to Denver and they also had good weather predicted for the 3rd. Unfortunately, the plane I was supposed to get on was coming from Chicago, so it got cancelled and all the weather out east had my flight rescheduled for the 6th so I didn't escape the -50 wind chills this year after all. On the 6th, my first plane was 2 hours delayed, luckily had a long layover to catch the second but was tight and a long run from one gate to the next. What a hassle.

Once in LA though, having done a rideshare van program where i had to wait outside, I couldn't help but be grateful that the wait outside was indeed in LA and not somewhere else.
