You've got a round cake with 8 people. How can you cut this cake only 3 times and make 8 even pieces? Each cut must be a straight line too.

If you cut it crossways (making it into two layers) and then cut it from the top like this: + you'd have 8 pieces.

If you cut it crossways (making it into two layers) and then cut it from the top like this: + you'd have 8 pieces.

But then it's not really even, unless the cake is completely homogeneous.

thought about that for a second too. actually, if you count the bigger square that they're all in, wouldn't that count as 35?

Do I count all of the squares even if they have been cut into "L" shape because of a square inside of it?.. this part confused me

OK, here's a non-math one.

A father and his son (biological) got into an accident and were admitted to the ER. They were sent into two separate rooms. The ER doctor came into the son's room, saw the boy, and exclaimed, "this is my son!" And the boy is indeed the doctor's biological son. How can this be?
