She is very brave to take a stand like that, and should probably carry a handgun with her. It's crazy what's going on over there not just for gay rights but for human rights.

Awww, that was adorable. It's huge step for societies where it's even harder to be gay. Freedom to love *preach girl*.

However I found it hilarious that she seemed far more excited about the concert tickets than for the engagement ring.

I think you need to spend some time in Iran, or at least read up about the place.

It is not possible for an artist to broadcast this type of music or video while living in Iran. She would be killed IMMEDIATELY. Plus, all the actresses are wearing typical Western attire, which alone would be enough have have them beaten to a pulp. I don't know where this singer is living but it ain't Iran. That being said, it's great she made this video as I'm sure many people in Middle Eastern areas will see it.

I think you do. I've been to Iran many times and I'm going back in May.

I don't think he needs to go to have empathy for peoples leaving there.

You insulted someone brave and someone wise in just two post. Congratulation, keep going

Let me tell you who this fucking singer is.

Her name is Googoosh and she is THE most famous Persian popstar in Iran and much of the middle east. She has been around since the late 60's and an icon as can be.

Her influence on the Iranian culture is that of someone like Barbra Streisand. Her voice is unlike any other and in the 70's, whatever hair style she would have, would be the "it" cut for the Iranian women.

She now lives in Sacremento in exile, but she is very active around the world, selling out arenas left and right and remains the huge icon that she is.

So as an Iranian, watching my biggest idol support equal rights...man, I have tears in my eyes.

Fuck yeah, Googoosh. God, her voice just is amazing.

as gay as muslims , almost all major factions of islamists denounce homosexuals but live as " closet for life " so straight people of Allah
its world reknowned that taliban is the biggest gay militia , wih they getting sodomized still claiming to be exclusively heterosexual
they oppose women rights , television everything but never impose ban on homosexuality as the hadith mandates a death penalty on gays

infact almost all major shiekhs are gays .
including the famous Emir of Al qaeeda , shiekh Osama ( son of **tch ) bin Laden , ever wonder why saudi arabia has just a population of 25 million even after every man having 3 to 4 wives ?

coz they are required to forcibly populate the world even if they're gay

I know so many of my Gay muslim friends who f*ckin applied for asylum under gay protection and were accepted in england , sweden and now have blonde wives have 3 kids and live closeted ... still

that's Jihad in a legal way , only if i my asylum wouldve been accepted by UN , i wouldve really done something for gays and Arab Christians , but No !
UN is concerned about Syrian , Palestinian muslims than christians knowing its only muslims who kill muslims and US arming rebels against Assad proved me America is the backbone of Jihad and Saudi Arabia , even when its the same jihadis who kill innocent Americans

    my sympathy to americans

In-spite of the great job she doesn't live in Iran anymore. So she's safe.
The video shot in US, .. .Its interesting to know that she was banned to sing after the revolution while she was (& still is) the most popular Persian singer but decided not to leave her country and stay 20 years next to her people in hardships during the war. Finally she left the country 12 years ago, now living in US and singing.

"Googoosh" we all love u !

    Thank you!

And personally I'd be quite happy if she makes millions on this video. It is beautiful and moving.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidWoooow! I'm overwhelmed. I have never heard of Googoosh before. What a beautiful voice and such a beautifully done video. What an amazing heterosexual, Iranian woman to create a video about same sex relationships. I'm posting this video to my profile, I can't stop listening to it. icon_smile.gif

I probably shouldn't say this but I think Googoosh is going to ultimately be considered one of the greatest female singers/pioneers for gay rights. She may be exiled safely living in America but considering where she's from she's writing history not just for Iranian human rights but will also be recognized on a global level. While ya got self aggrandizing pop stars like "Madge" creating controvery that's centered around her (e.g. calling her own white son a nigger, exposing her tits and fondling her nipples at her own concerts, blah blah blah, and all the other horse shit she indulges in), you got Googoosh who creates an uproar which will benefit an Iranian demographic in dire need of equality. Not to mention what sounds like real natural talent as far as singing voice is concerned.

I did some searching for her on youtube. I'm really liking her music. The rhythm in this song has a very relaxed Latin jazz feel.

    I.Am.An.Instant.Fan.

Just so you know, that video is a medely of all of her major hits from the 70s...there are shots of her music videos from that era in that video. I listen to her on the regular icon_smile.gif

Oh Iran, as one word. For a minute, I thought the guy from Flock of Seagull's came out.
