Why is everybody in wheelchairs? I'm sure more than the half of those seniors can stand and walk on their own.

Music is very powerful and forms part of the self concept. In my undergrad, I used music to elicit autobiographical memories in university participants and found that most people tie music, especially popular music, to some salient event in their lives. So much in that, when they hear that piece of music (especially after a long absence), it triggers all the positive and negative emotions and images associated with that piece. Music therapy is often used with Alzheimer's patients as well.
