KissingPro saidEveryone should see it. To see the historical perspective is valuable and to think how hard we should be fighting today to keep the struggle going....its important.

Those guys in the early days were courageous and brave...ironically it was guys who were not the most masculine in the world.

Anyway...I know some of you live in places where you can't be yourself. I especially receommend you find a wy to see this flick. It may give your courage and ideas.

I finally saw Milk today. Sean Penn did a wonderful job, I hope he wins some awards! Why didn't this movie come out before election day?

I DEFINITELY AGREE that this should have been released before Nov 4. After watching this movie, I realize how entitled and disconnect the gay community is and how so many people who live in the closet are actually are greatest enemies and yeah... the church.

    It's inspiring.

Just saw it. Another great insight into gay history, though it was a bit dramatized (understandable since it's not a docu like the last Milk film). I also recommend Brother Outsider and Before Stonewall.

I think it is sad when I ask people in the bar scene if they've ever heard of Harvey Milk, or Stonewall, and they don't know shit!

    good.

too much music of the "this is how you are supposed to feel so we are overlaying really annoying score over epic and/or sentimental moments" variety. It would have been so much better without it. this is one of my big pet peeves in movies.

very interesting history. good acting. pretty typical Hollywood biopic.

one thumb up, one sideways. could have been done better, but definitely could have been done WAY worse.

I thought the dialogue was perfectly done. I really was able to identify with a lot of the conversations the characters had, particularly the ones between Harvey and Scott. That's saying a lot given that this movie is aimed at a mainstream audience!

I ask myself the same question.

Nevertheless, it was a good movie that people could learn a lot from. I have watched a few other documentaries about gay history. There was a cool documentary about fire island I watched that kind of cast a modern history of gays in the context of the history of fire island. I want to get a few books on gay history to learn more.

If anyone has any suggestions on books about gay history I would like to know.
