So I'm moving to a different city soon and no one will accept my dog because she's a shepherd mix..so I made an add looking for a good home for her..someone replied to my add saying they get "bait dogs" I had no idea what this was until today. They take these dogs and put them to be ripped apart by fighter dogs ! = made my stomach hurt .. I'm just gonna keep my baby

I read about this in the paper its awful. They pretend to people who need give their dog away they're able to provide good homes but it's a lie. Always ask for a bit of money that way if someone is not prepared to provide a bit of cash you know that their not up for committing to the dog.

Dude if youre moving out and you already have a pet you should automatically include her n your new house, even if "no one will accept her" you keep on looking until they do. Giving away your dog to somebody else is not an option if you really care about your dog. However Im glad to hear in the eand shes staying with you.

Agreed. Pets shouldn't be regarded as disposable inconveniences.

I want that person arrested! Get their contact and give it to the police and if they don't do anything contact local news stations or find a vet that can help guide you! Living creatures, this includes men and woman, are not toys for entertainment!!!!!!!

People that have no regard for life are a potential danger to society.

Pets are a huge responsibility. How would you feel being tossed to the side. They're not just a temporary companionship if that's what you're after find a hooker.

Pets are like real kids, they're yours for life till the day you have to put them down.
Kinda like the vow, till death do us part. No apt. or condo is worth having to sacrifice your pet. Not even a new BF that's allergic.
There's living spaces and BF's that will love you both, open arms.
We have a lot of condo's here in Dallas that have built in Dog Parks. No need to ever leave your property.
Just take your pooch out to play, twice daily!

What you're saying now makes you look even worse; if she's "super sweet" and "youre all she knows" how come you were gonna give her away??? (the only reason you didn't was because the wrong person approached you).
Like some posters said, pets are a huge responsibility, once you got them should be treated like family, would you dispose of your kid because your new condo won't accept children or because your NEW PARTNER don't like them?

I doubt I would have given her up anyway , I'm moving somewhere temporarily about 3-6 months . And I can't ask a friend to pooch sit that long..I've already been accepted to a place that allows large dogs but not gsd so I think I'll just say she's a lab mix next time someone asks

If you LIE about her breed, as soon as the new "temporary owners" find out might even kick her out or or find another 'home' for her without thinking twice.
You know what? You're selfish and have no idea what you're doing. Make that dog a favor and let her go, it's clear you were not made for pets and have no idea how to treat them. Send her to a good shelter that will make sure to find her someone else who appreciates her and protects her no matter what.

she's a lab/Shepard mix..didn't I say that already? I don't need your judgement David cause no matter what you say it won't change anything. We all have crazy thoughts when put under pressure, we are all human after all. So if you don't have something positive to add to the situation I'd appreciate if you keep you two cents

This is what turns me on about David. It's not his appearance or the fact he's Italian (which is a plus), but the fact he'd be willing to settle down and commit to something for the long haul. I find dedication and commitment extremely sexy.

I am telling you something positive, positive for the DOG. You suck as an owner, she deserves to be taken care of properly, if you can't (which you just reckoned) send her to a proper shelter until they find someone better for her.

And what I ment about saying she is a lab mix wasn't for any temporary owner it was for the next house that asks breed.guess that wasn't clear. I found a place that was fine with me having a large dog until I mentioned shepherd

What's the big deal with her being a Shepard?
Not like you said she was a Newfoundland or Great Pyrenees..

You keep missing the point here and why do you keep bringing up her breed? That has nothing to do with this situation. If you're moving out for 6 months (that's a long time for a dog) you should take her with you no matter what, you keep looking until you find a place they accept big dogs, that might not be easy but she's your responsability. As simple as that.

that's what I'm tryin to say ! I'm looking for another place now! She's staying with me. What I was saying is if another house asks breed I'm going to say lab mix instead of Shepard mix

You're saying that now, but the only reason that made you decide to keep her with you was because some bad guys approached you. You were going to give her away, you even made an ad for fucks sakes. I'm done with this thread.
