Stop this stuff about "old creepers" in gyms

Are there "old creepers" in gyms as I keep reading here? Sure, but neither do I like the almost obsessive and knee-jerk use of that term by younger members here, for most older men.

I'm old, and I like a little eye candy, but I'm not a creeper. I have a partner, I'm monogamous, and I wouldn't dream of approaching a younger guy for sex. Nor would I play the tease, and make salacious comments to other guys.

On the contrary, I could make a case for YOUNG creepers, who approach ME unwanted. And don't dispute me on this, until you reach my age and have to deal with it yourself.

So can we go easy with this "old creepers" term? It's as bad as any anti-gay stereotype, that says all gays are pedophiles & sex fiends. All old gay guys are not creepers.

And when none of the rest of you like a bit of eye candy yourselves, and never sneak a look at other guys in the locker room & shower, then don't cast stones at us older guys who still do the same thing. Slam us if we try to touch, but don't be hypocrites when we merely look.

Actually I've used the term "troll" not creeper when talking about older men who have checked me out... but your point is well taken.

"Creepers/trolls" in my eyes can be ANYONE who gives them lingering, creepy stares/looks. It's all rather uncomfortable!!! And unfortunately it seems to be mostly the older generation that does this. Either way it's all weird and eerie!

I'm a middle aged guy and I don't mind older men/men my age gawking. But I just wish they wouldn't strut around the changing room nude while they're doing it.

    It's just weird.

Yeah, I understand. Depending on their age, some, like me, come from a time when we were totally oblivious to nudity in the locker room. Or at least we were supposed to be.

In fact, it was considered a male "perk" that we could prance around naked without a second thought, a holdover from an earlier age of innocence. So if some of us older guys continue that habit, I hope younger guys will be a little understanding, and not automatically assume we're all "creepers" just because their own modern generation is so prudish.

Can young guys conceive that maybe THEY are the ones who are out of step with traditions that are many generations older than they are? That maybe THEY are the problem, and not these older guys, who are just doing what men have done for eons?

    Ya know what?

I take it as a compliment.

Someone thinks I'm attractive. That's awesome.

Even on the lowest of low days, the " I have really low self-esteem and I'm feeling ugly " I can go to that thought and say, " nope, there are people in this world who find you attractive, CO... "

And maybe I made his day, too. Maybe I nodded back or smiled. And he went " Oh, that guy I think is attractive nodded at me "

The locker room nudity taboo thing does seem kind of strange to me. However, I suspect that it may fade away in the next generation. It's almost impossible to keep clothes on young kids running around the farm in the summer time.

A decade ago, I was often peeved at old people in the gym, but for a different reason. The gym had started a campaign of senior discounts, and there was a crowd of old geezers who sat around on the equipment all day, not using it, just chatting with each other. They'd get really upset if you asked to use the equipment. They should have parked their saggy asses down at the coffee shop, instead the weight room.

As an "old guy" I take offense that we are one of the last groups that the rest of society seems to think is OK to attack and vilify.

If cute young guys walk around the locker room naked and look at you would you really mind?

If cute young guys sat at the machines and talked would you even say anything here?

Come on. I have going to the gym since I was a teen and there are always creepy guys of ALL ages and ill mannered jerks that hog the machines without using them and other bad behavior so when you are pointing it out there is no need to always add it is the old trolls or creepers or other derogatory ageist remarks. Just say it is ill mannered people.

Sometimes it can be extremely uncomfortable when someone has no shame and blatantly stares and stares....It's unerving.

At the same time, a mens locker room is what it is. You have to expect that stuff. But some guys take it too far and I want to say to them "LEARN SOME MANNERS!.

But I'm not being physically bothered, so it ain't bad.

However, it does seem that way older guys have more of a propensity to stare obnoxiously. Lots of younger guys do the same, but generally younger guys are more discreet about it.

I am totally turned on by a respectful guy who puts out a signal and notices me, but then allows me my space and doesn't stare. Seems that the more masculine and genuine a guy is, the more he understands respecting another man's space, because he wants the same for himself.

Correct me if I am wrong, but everyone will get older. Not every older man stares in a creepy way. Just make sure that you youngins don't turn into a creepers yourselves.

I find it funny when I read those types of threads because what these young guys fail to realize is that one day you will be 45. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Amen! And in my experience, some "youngins" are creepers already, though they shift the blame to those older.

My very point. And if a gorgeous guy like you can ever be considered an "old creeper" then the rest of the young guys here might as well slit their wrists when they make 40.

    Yeah, a1972guy! Seriously!

    Here's how I define "old"

If you got hit by a bus today, MOST people would react "but he was so young!"

    That goes for 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, YES even 60s!

I think what most everyone's talking about is respect first, and generational differences secondly. Because yes, there was a time when it was considered socially acceptable for men to walk around completely naked in the locker room. It was also once considered more socially acceptable, even fashionable, to smoke. Society changes!

This is exactly the point though. Not all older guys are creepers, and not all younger guys are the equivalent. If you work under the system that if the cap fits - wear it, there's no need for you to be offended Red Vespa. Leave it to the creepers to be offended.

I think I saw this guy checking me out in the gym. The way he was staring at me I thought he'd be sporting some wood, but that wasn't the case. Instead he looked bored.
