Conan just said that Jason Collins made history by being the first professional athlete not being sued by a woman for child support.

Another rule would be not to assume that a gay man wants to look at your body. Some straight men who aren't even all that automatically assume that a gay man wants to eyeball them.

At one of the gyms ive been to in my area, its mostly only gay guys that shower anyhow. Straight guys only change under there towels and leave without showering. LOL.

And the answer to Penny is that, yes, opposite sexed persons should be able to shower next to each other AND ACT LIKE ADULTS. The whole point, really, is that nudity and sex aren't automatically associated. Mature people understand this.

It's all contextual, and Americans always give nudity a sexual context. I don't think Europeans are this way, so much.

We each have different levels of comfort, and that should be respected. But you can't globalize your personal level of comfort/discomfort. The same principle applies to basing public policy (i.e. law) on personal belief systems. You can't do that in a Republic like ours, but it's been the history of this country from the start. We are clawing our way toward maturity, though.

I have seen majority of my good friends naked. I met majority of them while studying abroad in Japan and we bathed together in hot springs. Initially we were shy but then it began to never cross any of our minds again that we were naked.

Athletes need to realize that just because someone is attracted to the same gender does not automatically pool you into being their type. When I came out one of my friends really thought I was going to try to pick him up despite him not even being close to my type(obviously that friendship didn't last long after).

Seriously guys, why some people make it a big deal: as long as no one hitting on you while you're showering, everything is fine, right icon_biggrin.gif
I don't even care if a creepy old guy is staring at my bulge while I'm changing in the gym or someone is trying to check me out while I'm showering... Besides, I am not an exhibitionist!

A very hilarious yet informative article. Hopefully it will force all the FLAKY FUNDAMENTALISTS to blush in embarrassment over their paranoia about showering next to a gay man.

This is one of the best posts. Jason Collins and Michael Sam maybe the openly gay athletes but I am sure there have been many more closeted athletes that showered with their straight teammates.

That may be too much information for a homophobe to read.

Wow! It really is that simple. WHAT...is the fascination with straights and the shower scene? Oy!
