Do you eavesdrop all the time? Does it happens even though you don’t seek out opportunities. These slices of language come to you through the air, begging to be heard, like small, precious gifts you cannot refuse, mini vacations into other lives.

Eavesdropping is one of New York City's most commonly-shared pastimes, and one of its many pleasures. You hear the goddamndest things.

I always do it, I hated not being able to do it when I lived in Turkey, for obvious reasons.. icon_sad.gif

    No, hardly ever tbh.

The reason being, most people talk about absolute inane, mindless, small talk of no significance, simply to talk about something, anything, less they face the dire boredom of being left alone to their own thoughts, or, unfortunately, lack thereof I would hangar to guess.

I tend to go about in my own little world mostly, usually deep in thought, about things that genuinely interest me or I feel the need to process. So unless the eavesdropping is on something truly engaging, I switch off the external white noise.

I don't know where the hell you've been hanging out, but New Yorkers' overheard conversations are usually anything but boring. You hear the most bizarre stuff when you listen.

Not into listening to gossip and trash talk, don't need it in my life and don't validate it by listening or participating in conversations centered around it

Ah, to dream, to dream... I can't remember the last time I overheard an interesting convo lol... Whenever I finally visit NYC (which will my first time there) I'll be sure to try it out and put it to the test ! :]

You travel in more interesting circles than I. I've often said: "Twenty-five years in Manhattan and I've yet to overhear a cell phone conversation worth eavesdropping on."

Absolutely not. When my husband gets a telephone call I go into the office and close the door so I can't overhear. When I walk past his computer I avert my eyes. His privacy is absolute to me.

If he wants to tell me or involve me he will. It's not that I think he's hiding anything, to me it's a matter of respect, and trust. I simply don't listen or look. His privacy is sacred to me, his own space that he reveals to me as he chooses.

As for others, I likewise try not to violate their space. Your privacy is your own special place. Unlike some guys here do, I won't do Internet searches about you, and try to research you. If I won't even look at my husband's computer screen, do you think I'm gonna do searches on YOU?

So no, I don't eavesdrop, even when my husband is on the phone. That's déclassé and an insult to him, and likewise an insult if I attempt something similar with you on the computer.

I'll admit, if I walk past someone getting stopped by the cops, I do try to hear what's going on.

I can't shut my ears like I can with my eyes. I play a game with my partner when we received snippets by making up a story with them.

I do it alot at work. But it's kinda a defense mechanism for me. Because of my introverted nature, I'm often kept out of the loop. Alot of information is withheld from me, whether intentionally or unintentionally. So i eavesdrop. Mostly to stay in the loop or not have to talk to inquire about this information. But, i do pick up gossip every once in awhile.

Soon, there will be no need to eavesdrop!

One day around the globe, wireless transmitters will be implanted into the cerebral cortex at birth...

...and will convey via satellite every thought, feeling, and intention of every human being (and certain other living creatures)...

...to a server farm of Cray Supercomputers housed deep under the ice near McMurdo Station, Antarctica.

And on that day, The New World Order (co-led by the Trilateral Commission and the Vatican) will know all and see all!

And, do you know what will happen on that day?

Sadly, not even one fuck will be given to what any of what nearly all of the billions of people on this earth will be thinking.

That is all. You may go now.
