i indirectly came out to a family member today. We were watching the news about how arizona wants to pass a law that says that restaurants are allowed to refuse service to gay men and women. My biggot uncle was saying its about time they did that. I took my aunt aside and told here That statement pissed me off because im gay . She told me what I wish my mom would have told me " I dont care I love you anyways" icon_cool.gif

Congrats. So when are you going to confront HIM and let him know how he offended you?

    Congrats!

    But that's crazy about Arizona!!

If that happens would people boycott these restaurants? Would closeted men go to them knowing they had these policies???

Sounds like a schmuck, tell him off yourself. He's gonna emotionally ruin his own son. He sounds like an immature drunk to me.

This seemed very direct. Not indirect.

I only came out to one group of people at the same time. Their reaction was tantamount to an emotional punch in the dick.

Glad to hear you had a good response (OP). I know when I came out I was scared of course. My moment came when I was really really sick and my boyfriend was taking care of me. I mean cooking for me helping me shower holding me all that great stuff. That made me realize that there is no reason why I should be hiding my relationship with a such a great guy. So I just took the plunge and came out to my family. They were initially shocked but they all were and continue to be supportive.

I think he meant it wasn't to his immediate family first.

That's great Mike….you're becoming much more comfortable with who you are, that's a good thing. Now, the next time your uncle makes a comment like that, then you can confront him and put him on notice that those kinds of comments are unacceptable when you're around. If he actually knew someone gay, he'd probably think twice before making the comment but as long as he thinks he's in 'agreeing' company, his ignorance will dictate his mouth!
