I was hoping for this show to be better and more than it's turned out be, which is just another bunch of cliched gay stereotypes. I would love to see a show about gays that doesn't think we are all defined by our sex lives.

I guess if we were to have a show based on a lot less on sex than this show would have to be in another city. I mean honestly, have you ever been to San Francisco? icon_lol.gif

Ha. Very true. The city that never sleeps... alone.

Mym hym, the first episode strongly eluded to a three way. But nothing too graphic.

That's my point. They always change scenes as the action gets going.

All the other straight shows that have been on HBO have no problem going through the full scene. Maybe because it's gay sex and they're trying to broaden their audience in small doses.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidSo, when will the word "homo-normative" be an officially accepted term?

    Cuz I wanna know....!

guessing it will be when they show full on sex scenes on "Looking" apparently.

Yep, I like the show, but it needs to be an hour in length.

The lack of sex scenes to portray gay sex as normal is only one of the many things wrong with this show. Lack of character development coupled with uninteresting storylines. The progression is incredibly slow. The episodes one to the next lack consistency and fluidity. They build up to interesting moments only to shrug them off. The show needs to be one hour long. They did a decent job if 30 minutes was their time constraint but really they really need to pull it together for season 2.

I don't know that it's a lack of character development for me so much that I hate 2 of the 3 main characters.

This show is garbage. I feel like I need to cancel my HBO subscription now, I can't believe they renewed this snooze fest.

Lack of sex scenes? You have not watched it or you are looking for porn. If they had less sex maybe they would have more time for a storyline.

I have watched all of the episodes. There's barely anything. I'm not looking for porn, I know where to find that. Maybe if the show was actually interesting they wouldn't even need sex scenes!!!

I'm happy it got renewed. It's a great show. Slow moving but gets there. Characters are slowly unravelling. Gay audiences too harsh.

Have you not been watching the show? The main 'criticism' from gay audiences is that it's too "boring" and there's "not enough sex" and that it's about "men who happen to be gay" which is too "boring" apparently and at the same time we have people complaining about "gay stereotypes" and "too much sex" and it being all "about sex" which is exactly what the show's creators have been deviating away from.

I'm beginning to assume people just have some superiority complex for not liking these sort of shows without having even seen more than an hour of it. icon_rolleyes.gif

In his review of Looking in Out Magazine, Christopher Glazek sums up audience reactions to the show pretty well:

"The way you feel about Looking may well line up with how you feel about life in general. Do you like most people? Do you appreciate the everyday? You can be a perfect misanthrope and still love Sex and the City. Looking, like life, is more demanding."

I have to admit considering this is a HBO show I was surprised by the lack of any explicit sex on this show.

The way it's shot lends itself to a realistic portrayal of sex, rather than cut aways just as things start to get going.

At least they don't keep their clothes on when their fucking and I actually like the fact that the characters have a multi dimensional quality to them rather than being caricatures like the fucking village people.

maybe they should hire kim catrall to play a drag queen on the show, guaranteed then we'll see tons of bed breaking fuck scenes.

It seems to me that guys just don't have the ability to watch a character develop. All you guys that just want more sex scenes or more graphic sex are proof that it's all about just getting the job done.

Sure, there's slow scenes and it needs development but it's only been 6 episodes. I don't think the show was ever intended to be the desperate Housegays of San Francisco. It's a story about a few guys and how they live their lives, their encounters, relationships, etc.

Give the damn thing a chance and in the mean time, go visit xtubes to get yourself off. I don't think that's the main objective of HBO!
