Not to hijack, but has anyone heard any news about right-winger Tim Mooney's "Equal Marriage" front groups in Arizona and Florida? They're not to be confused with the legit "Equality Arizona" organization. I just worry about his group popping back up and sucking time, energy, and money away from true pro-LGBT causes in those states.

It wont pass and if it does Jan will veto it. It was introduced a while ago and just not given that much attention. Also the bill would be struck down because it is in direct violation with laws that judges must face...

And hey let the Republicans make bills like this...if they spend all their time making failures, the people will give up on them and it will send a message to Republicans to accept homosexuality and focus on something that matters.

If marriage equality becomes a reality in the future in Arizona, judges already have an option if they do not want to serve everyone equally- resign.

I with you ... the GOP are nutz and overly obsessed with trying to take away rights of gay people ... it is not only dysfunctional, it is a mental sickness ... If then want to refuse to perform a government function on the grounds of religion, then they should not be performing any marriage at all because of a separation of church and state. A marriage performed by a government official should not be in an any way construed as some sort of religious ceremony or sacrament. It is simply a legal binding contract. No more, not less.

    Look at this: http://www.theamm.org/marriage-laws/arizona

In the language of the first section, it's inferred however vaguely that judges are not ministers, etc (see last line which mentions ministers).

However, if this goes ahead, straight people of different faiths intermarrying can be forbidden, as well as people whose faith is different from the person performing the marriage, as well as people with no faith at all.

Quite frankly the vast amount of money, taxpayer's money, wasted in several States that are attempting such laws must be enormous by now, as well as gov't time wasted.

So where are the fiscal Conservatives, and why aren't they screaming about this waste?

I suspect some big corporations will simply withdraw from the State this time instead of merely threatening to do so.

Sadly do not all political party's play some form of political game; in some way. Surly the Democrats are not free of all sins either; they just have a different agenda.

It is time to clean house in the Arizona GOP. It is time to free that state's GOP organization from all the FLAKY FUNDAMENTALISTS and evict them to the outermost fringes of society.

    Don't vote republican then.

Just make sure you speak out whenever republicans or democrats try to segregate anyone, not just gay men.
Whenever you see laws reinforcing discrimination regardless of who it is targeted to -speak up. Don't keep quite and and cry when its just applied to a segment you identify with.

    I never vote conservative.

I bet that it is all those Mormon fundies from NW Arizona that are pushing for all this idiotic anti-gay legislation along with all the NARROW MINDED, BIBLE THUMPING SCREWBALLS who have infiltrated Arizona from the South over the past few decades. icon_mad.gif
