    I have followed American pop music longer than most RJ members have been alive. Here are my 10 favourite hits from 2008, in no particular order.

    "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay;

    "No Air" by Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown;

    "4 Minutes" by Madonna & Justin Timberlake;

    "So What" by Pink;

    "If I Were A Boy" by Beyonce;

    "Say" by John Mayer;

    "Stop And Stare" by OneRepublic;

    "Shadow Of The Day" by Linkin Park;

    "Love Song" by Sara Bareilles;

    "Hot N Cold" by Katy Perry

    Hopefully this is one forum posting that will not start a flame war. icon_rolleyes.gif

    You chose "If I were a boy" over "Single Ladies" and also you chose "Hot n Cold" over the anthem that was "I kissed a girl" (no matter how over played it was come August)

    You're gay right?

    Come on, what is an RJ thread without flames and a Calson lolcat?

    "Lolli Lolli" just has to be in there (and Kevin Rudolf's "Let It Rock")

    Come on where is Rhianna in the top ten?

    Umbrella, Distrubia?

    And I might be the only one who thinks Cold Play can suck it, bloody U2 wannabes.

    And I don't like U2 either. So makes it that much worse.

    If I hear "Disturbia" one more time I'm gonna puke. It's disturbing me at this point.

    Overall I thought 2008 was fun for music.

    ps....the best part of music now is when the remixes start coming out

    Umbrella was in 2007, this is 2008. Disturbia wasn't bad but I preferred "Don't Stop The Music" which almost made my top 10.

    You would be surprised. I actually subscribe to Billboard magazine and have books that reproduce the Billboard pop charts from January 1955. It is a bit of a hobby of mine.

    "Single Ladies" is one BIG PIECE OF SHIT song!!! Catchy, but a SHITTY ASS song!!!! Lyrically, "If I Were A Boy" is MUCH stronger and probably the ONLY song on her CD that's worth ANYTHING!!!!!

    As for Pop Music goes, I'd have to say that your Top 10 list is pretty dead on SurrealLife, even I personally do not care a couple of the acts, but hey are what they are.

    Hmm, I agree with about half that list. But what about LADY GAGA - Just Dance? She was, like, revolutionary! haha. And ya, a Rihanna song should be there, perhaps Disturbia. She had a number of hits this year. And MADONNA - Hung Up? I dunno, it seemed pretty darn popular/overplayed to me!

    Why is it that every time you post in CAPS I look at your pic and picture you screaming it at the poster to whom you are responding? It always makes me giggle a little.

    Seriously, all I see right now is your pic screaming at me "BIG PIECE OF SHIT" and then you shouting "RAWR".

    That being said, her album sucks and Single Ladies is catchy. When it comeds to Beyoncé I don't care about her lyrics, I just want her to drop bombs they get me to act like a drunk groupie when I dance.

    Hellllllllo... guys, you disappoint me. Umm... no one mentioned (until now that is) 2 of the biggest Divas out there that had huge hits this year...

    Mariah Carey: Touch my body

    Janet Jackson: Feedback

    And as MUCH as a FAN I am of those two and I want Janet to be back on top, I must admit that they may have been "hits", but the songs themselves SUCKED!

    I must admit I warm up to Divas like some people warm up to root canal. I am not a big fan of Mariah Carey, but even I was shocked at how forgettable "Touch My Body" was. She has got to get better songwriters.

    I personally think Janet Jackson's music has not been bad the last two albums. It is a pity that her "wardrobe malfunction" at the Super Bowl has put her career into the deep freeze.

    Madonna's "Hung Up" was a hit in December 2005. I must admit I still love it though.

    The Lady Gaga song "Just Dance" isn't bad, I prefer it to her second song that is now #1 in Canada (something about Poker).

    The two Leona Lewis songs should get honourable mention, especially the second one. "Bleeding Love" was overplayed but it was a decent song, and she has a good voice (she is also very pretty).

    I hated that song Bleeding Love.

    I hope she bleeds love until she bleeds to death.

    "feedback" didn't suck. some of the tracks in the middle of discipline i skip entirely, but "feedback" was a good single. some of her best recordings are completely unknown because of the superbowl incident: "like you don't love me," "enjoy," and "2nite" are fantastic joints that the wider public won't hear b/c of that incident.

    I agree that she receives credit on most of her songs, but I would love to know what parts she writes. Hopefully it is not the melody, because that is the part that is forgettable. I personally don't pay too much attention to lyrics.

    As much as it kinda pains me to admit this...

    ...I'm kinda LOVING Britney's 'Amnesia' and 'Quicksand' right now.

    And Madonna's '4 Minutes' is still my alarm ringtone. It's the only thing halfway pleasant about waking up these days (on weekdays, at least).
