Not at my particular gym ... yet, but we're getting there in Columbus. Demographic changes have been much the same as Minneapolis.

This violent brawl occurred in a suburb of Minneapolis, not in the city proper. So much for suburbia being mostly crime free and quiet.

At my home in Royal Oak, MI, LA Fitness is the closest gym to me and unfortunately, if you have a membership and use it frequently, you are just asking to be robbed. There are many car break ins and part of the problem is much of the parking is below the building because they did not have enough required spaces when they built it, and so some of the parking is out of vision of people inside the gym or people driving by. By mid January of this year there were 70 crimes reported since it opened in the Fall of 2011 and you know there are many people that do not bother reporting theft if they don't believe it will do anything to get there property back. I wonder if the taxes they pay actually result in a negative for the city with all the police and court costs that results from the crime at the gym. And like in the linked article in the OP, LA Fitness has resisted calls by the city and residents to provide better security.

70 Crimes reported at LA Fitness since its Opening in the Fall of 2011:

The pic in the article is not the actual Royal Oak location, this is, showing the parking deck entrance that makes i easy for thieves to remain hidden:

The burbs were fine until they got invaded. We're going to have the same thing happen one of these days at the lifetime fitness at Easton.

This Minneapolis group is the same bunch who were harassing the homos on pride weekend.

They can all go back to their life as pirates as far as I'm concerned.

I really hate gyms that have basketball courts. All of the 24 Hour Fitness I've been to that have b-ball courts, tend to attract a lot of riff raff. And worst part is that while they're waiting for their turn for an open the court, they hang out in the weight room area and screw around. Sit on the equipment, text, dribble the basketball. WTF.

Also, all gyms are notorious targets for property theft. I never leave anything important in my car, and I never use the lockers.

When I'm up there, since I stay at the Somerset, I go to the new one in Birmingham. Or they say its Birmingham, but I think it is or almost is Troy.

And true that the under the building parking is what keeps me out of there when im up there in the old cars. There are just not any spaces I can find where someone can't get right next to me. And given that I still don't have my 63 back from the deer hit, I'm exceedingly careful about my paint and where I park.

Is the correct answer "black"? lol

Seriously though, kinda uncomfortable with this pattern on RJ of white men posting "evidence" of black criminal behavior

I was waiting for that. Watch the video and notice the names of the ones who were arrested and you'll answer you own question.

Well, not exactly, but a few pirates out in the Indian ocean where these folks come from and certainly massive homophobes.

In north America it's a problem unique to Columbus and Minneapolis.

We're too PC around here to say much, but we're real tired of it around here and I'm sure Minneapolis feels the same.

I never leave anything of value in my car visible from the outside except rarely by accident.Wake up people.I would stop going to that gym if the security is so poor.Ry

Amazing and pretty sad. They had better get things in hand or else they may lose more than just members, they may gain lawsuits and the place may go out of business. Negative publicity is just the beginning.

paz_the_gnome saidit's fucking minnesota. icon_lol.gif minnesota ain't serious like that. op, you sound like one of those people that freaks out as soon as you see black families move on your block. you don't even know who the hell the culprits were in the video as it wasn't said and just because someone was detained doesn't mean that they were fighting. you jumping the gun and revealing yourself.

This had nothing to do with 'black' as you're thinking it. Zero! Min 1:50 for those who were arrested and charged.

Sherman Oaks or Studio City? Neither of those are like this or some of the problems we're having around here.
