Why is there such a *Negative* opinion on Bottoms?

Hm, I've been wondering about this for a while. Reading some of the forum posts, here and there, there seems to be a negative connotation toward bottom guys or guys who just like to exclusively bottoms. (Some of the race threads too). Is this because bottom guys are seen as bitchy or the woman? Lol they can't get it up? I don't know, I just don't get it, I mean sex is sex and should be fun. I personally like both. I mean, straight guys don't condemn chicks because they like to take it up the ass. (Sorry, this thread is not meant to offend anyone out there but just a healthy discussion on sexual roles) icon_redface.gif

When there's a top, there is a bottom. You can't have one without the other. So people should stop complaining. Without the bottom to please the top, there is nothing. Nothing.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidStraight men are notorious for talking about women in a derogatory less than equal tone for eons. Where have you been?

So we should do the same and put down our gay allies? icon_eek.gif

The Bottom has the power, not the Top.

I'm really confused on why we put down each other in the gay community for the dumbest reasons (bottom, twink, bear, ect, ect). It's silly.

    Since when?
All I see are bottoms fighting each other to get the few available tops (pretty much the same women do with men).

Of course not, dumdum. Don't put words into my mouth. Not cool.

My point was that what you stated in your original post was false. Straight men do it to women all the time. Apparently, men (and some women) have an issue with the receptive and femenine role.

Nah, I didn't put words in your mouth, it was just a question. Well, now you're being ironic too. Men (gay and straight) and women (don't count in this case) do have a negative opinion of the bottom role. Thus, it makes my original observation correct. icon_biggrin.gif My question is WHY though?

    Bottoms aren't necessarily feminine.

No, but they "take it" so they automatically assume the female role (even if they act masculine). This is how society works, the male is the dominant one who got the power and the female is the submissive beauty to be cherished and protected.

This is sex we are taking about, since when did gay sex have gender-specific roles attached to them. Last time I checked gay means same-sex...

^ Its not total BS. Everyone knows there are way more bottoms than tops. You never hear tops complaining of lack of bottoms, but you hear the opposite all the time.

Your answer made me think of a gay prison documentary I just watched. It's very prison gay porn sex mentality. icon_redface.gif Except the top sells the bottom guy in prison for cheap cigarettes and booze. icon_eek.gif

That's sexual subordination (institutionalized homosexuality). That's something completely different.

Well I know that, but David's answer made me think of it that way. Because the young, weakling innocent kids in Prison are easy to prey on by more masculine, buff, older guys. (in General terms of course). So in order to survive and not get beaten, he needs to pair up with a top to protect him. Fascinating documentary btw. I recommend it. But yeah, that's just me.

Like someone said, without the Bottom, the Top is meaningless. You need both. Someone has to take it for someone to give. Both are equal.
