So after a couple years of making shakes and smoothies I think I have found quite an amazing combo... its so creamy and so good! 1 scoop Jarrow whey protein powder (unflavored unsweetened) 85 cal 3 oz Fage plain nonfat greek yogurt 45 cal 1 oz organic unsweetened almond milk 4 cal 1/2 oz not from concentrate grapefruit juice 5 cal 1 tablespoon smart balance omega flaxseed peanut butter 100 cal 1 frozen banana 72 cal 5 frozen straw berries 20 cal 1/3 cup frozen blueberries 26 cal 1/2 table spoon organic agave syrup 30 cal 387 calorie total blend and enjoy amazing creamy sugarfree (and no fake sugar) goodness! This is the best smoothie I have ever made so I had to share it with you guys I am not this specific but this is pretty close to my portions Jeff PS I just wish they would make these at my GYM rather then the fake sugar infused high fructose corn syrup laden flavored yogurt crap orgies they serve...ugh if I only had a freezer in my rental locker Let me know what you guys are making by the way the Jarrow whey protein is a cheap healthy protein source that I found on the shelf at whole foods.

I think i can improve on that a bit. Cottage cheese is a better protein if you are in body building mode than yogurt. Fig pep is a lot more complex sugar than agave nectar. Mixing citric acid (grapefruit) with milk products is a food combining no-no.
here is my recipe... Mine tastes way better than dirt. I do throw in some flax seed meal sometimes.
Protein Shake
4 - heaping tablespoon cottage cheese - not low fat 2 - heaping tablespoon smooth peanut butter 2 - tablespoon Fig Pep 8 - oz frozen fruit- blackberries, blueberries etc. 1/2 - banana 2 - scoops Trader Joe's Whey protein power. 8 - oz Chocolate Almond Milk

wow that is an interesting suggestion...is there sweetener in that whey you are using? and is there sweetener in the milk? looks like thats about 800 or 900 calories from what I can see...and I am trying to build mass but I am not trying to load in too many calories...either way I would be al about trying that and I have never heard of Fig pep...but yeah I add a lil grapefruit juice I dunno my friend started that years ago with me and its good never made a bad shake with it but I could try leaving it out...just adding nutrition...and the Fage Greek yogurt makes it so creamy unlike any shake I have ever made...seriously you would think that my shake had icecream or something in it its so creamy and good...

That chocolate almond milk is probably the unsweetened variety.
But I'm sure that he can pretty much eat whatever....look at his body!

Last year, my mix was:
4 Scoops of Chocolate Muscle Milk 2 Tablespoons of peanut butter 6 Cups of 2% Milk 1/2 Bananna 1/2 cup of Frozen Strawberries
Blend until Smooth - Delicious but Muscle Milk has a lot of fat.
This year the recipe is similar but I use:
6 cups of 2% milk 4 Scoops of ON 60g Chocolate Protein 4 Table spoons or one package of Vanilla Yogurt 2 table spoons of peanut butter
Delish in my opinion.

I would say total cost if you work it all out is around a 1.50 maybe 2.00 and my gym charges about 4 dollars for a fake sugar pumped high fructose infused version, so even if they made this and charged 6 dollars for it they would be more then tripling their money but who knows. Maybe I am the only one who would pay the extra...be careful with that muscle milk not only is it high in fat it is laden with fake sugar....

i do...
a cup or so of rice milk. a whole banana a dab of blackberries dab of strawberries dab of blueberries and a teenie bit of spinach
blend....and then add maca powder. add a boatload of hemp protien...whey is nasty shit in my mind. add some flax seed. ive also been adding lemon flavored fish oil extract...has the benefits but tastes like lemon. not grody fish juice. maybe ill add in a little natures source of life too. lately ive been adding in trader joes green powder.
blend this all in and its a monster. gives you a weird buzz...a smorgasbord blast of health. looks purple. dont leave it sitting out though or itll turn brown and sickly. some people cant handle it but i think its bomb. all the berries override the nasty tasting stuff.

I agree that banana tends to overwhelm other flavors. Since fat intake isn't usually a big concern for me, I often skip the banana and use an avocado instead, which has a bunch of fiber, a couple hundred calories, and way more potassium than a banana. And it makes any smoothie rich and creamy without destroying the flavor.
