What can I expect? Never been to a gay pride before and I'm definitely excited. Especially celebrating PRIDE in the gay capital of USA.

    Suggestions?
    What to look forward to?

Well, since you're not from around here, you may be somewhat shocked but probably more by the size of the event than what goes on there. It is THE biggest money maker for San Francisco of any event they have all year long. It has become much more tame but there's always some interesting things going on but really is more of a social event than a sex event. There's usually an area cordoned off for 'adults' only but even that part was much smaller and much further out of the way with very little going on. At best you seem to get skimpy outfits and hot bare chested guys if the weather cooperates (which it usually does). The parade itself is very long. We join friends and take some adult beverages pre-mixed to enjoy in a good spot near the curb. Finding curb placement can be hard. There were estimated 1 million people in 2011, probably about the same last year. Although there are a lot, it's fun and doesn't seem that crowded.

There are a ton of things afterwards in the Castro but mostly related to the drinking establishments. Some circuit style parties south of Market (SOMA).

Where are you staying and for how long? Just the weekend?

If it's a sunny day and you decide to watch the parade, bring some sunscreen. I got sunburnt...bad! icon_surprised.gif

Expect 100,000 men, most in a party mood, lots of dances on the weekend. I you are in SF before the 29th, there is a gay film festival running From June 19 - 29. There will eventually be a schedule at: http://www.frameline.org/

Expect normal San Francisco summer weather - anywhere between 55 degrees with a 25 mph wind to 90+ degrees and no wind - or maybe both in the same day.

Will RealJockers be there?!?! Haha maybe that's when I should go visit SF. Is it like the NYC gay pride -- I was kind of bored sitting and watching people go by. The same goes for the Thanksgiving Parade, eventhough the view was great (a family friend knew one of the officers) I enjoyed going back home and eating with family the most.
